Finally, the long awaited new Plastic Boy done by M.I.K.E. aka Push has been released on Bonzai Trance Progressive. Read on for my review…
Mike is back with yet another release, this is like his zillionth release so far. After Twixt, Angel Dust, Can You Feel It, … he releases this monster! Bonzai is one of the leading labels of quality trance, and it's noticable when you take a quick glance at all the top jocks their playlists: Armin Van Buuren, DJ Tiësto, John '00' Fleming, Judge Jules, and even Sasha play Bonzai stuff.
Tracklisting: A: Silver Bath B: Dahab
Silver Bath has got a nice start, a synth that makes the start sounds great. Starting off in the typical Plastic Boy/Push/M.I.K.E. uplifting sound, with a nice beat, a great melody, and soon a voice follows that says something like ‘eternity' (reminds me of Alibi - Eternity, coincidence or not?). At this time, the track is already complete. It has everything one could wish for, lushy beats, dreamy melodies, seizing you into another world. Mike’s world. Breakdown is once again, the typical stuff you can expect from Mike, starting with another melody, and some layers that weren’t used before. And just building and building, to the point where it comes together and blows up in your face! This is what heaven must feel like :)
The rest of the track remains the same dreamy, wavy music. When you listened to it, you’ll be overcome with the desire to play it again.
Dahab is on the b-side, but it could be released as an a-side in my opinion. What can I say about this track apart from the fact that it is quality a la famous M.I.K.E. style. The beats, the bass, the melody (no this isn’t Brooklyn Bounce) work together like they were meant to be.
Conclusion: Mike is a magician, that’s the only credible reason why he can’t deliver anything that isn’t quality.
