One of Anjunabeats' latest tracks is 'Taurine' by the awesome Aalto. Taurine continues Anjunabeats' outstanding reputation in trance and so is a favourite with the likes of Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond at the moment...
Aalto is a collaboration between Paavo Siljamäki from Above & Beyond and Miika Eloranta, aka Super8. The two, who are originally from Finland, first hit production success with the single 'Liquid Sweep' and affirmed their current position with their second massive release 'Rush'. Taurine will be released and on the shelves on the 14th of June.

A) Original Mix The Original Mix of 'Taurine' begins with a good hefty kick and some interestingly different sounding percussion. This is very quickly joined by a coarse, bassy sample and then shortly afterwards, the bass itself. The bass is a deep and constant driving force topped off with the coarse bass sample playing along with it. The track soon begins to build with the addition of some smooth and flowing pads that sweep in and out of the track and also a synth instrument which plays a few choice notes to go along with the chord progressions that are in place. The breakdown features the sweeping pads and they are used to develop the 'melody' of the track. Instead of a lead synth and melody, the focal point of the track is a very strong and defined chord progression played by slightly tranced up versions of the pads and laced nicely with some piano notes - its a beautiful, flowing sound that is uplifting but yet still carries the energy that the other parts of the track are also giving out. As usual, there is a quieter section without the main chords which builds up into another main section followed by another pad filled breakdown. This is topped off with one final energetic, pad filled main section with some lovely more highly pitched synths soaring over the top. A wicked track!
B) Super8 Remix The Super8 Remix of 'Taurine' is quite a different sounding track than the Original Mix - but in good ways! It starts with a solid kick, standard percussion and an active, groovy, arpeggiated bassline. This gives the track a 'deeper' feeling, as do the incoming pads and instruments - everything has an air of subtlety to it, along with a more calm and relaxed sensation. One of the major differences can be found in the breakdown - it features the pads, chord progressions and piano we already know, but there is also a female vocal part. Its a lovely sounding vocal, well sung and very well placed. It is sung in a foreign language though, so I have no idea what its actually saying (answers on a postcard [read: forum post]). One of the synth instruments that could be heard playing a few choice notes in the Original Mix is now playing a new, more prominent melody over the top of the chord progressions. There is another short break near the end, where the vocals come in once more and this is followed by one last main section. There are also vocals blended in with this, too, so its a wonderful mix of all the main parts of the track and a nice way to bring on the end of the tune.
Conclusion:
'Taurine' is a wicked sounding track! Uplifting, melodic and energetic, Aalto have worked their infallible magic once more and Super8 has stepped in to create an equally good remix. Excellent!
