The Greeks are taking over the music industry these days, with geniuses like G-Pal and Nikola Gala and now Christian Cambas comes trying to prove he is worthy of being in that list, does he deserve it?
Christian Cambas - Coded Love (Intrinsic Records)
The genius of Intrinsic is back, with another release, following the heels of the amazing Subterra and Blue Impulse release, the UK Label brings you Christian Cambas’s two tracks for INT017. Christian Cambas is another of the Greek producers that are making tremendous waves in electronic music. You have G-Pal, Nikola Gala and now add to that list Christian Cambas. He was originally born in Athens and has quickly gained many fans among the world’s top deejays. His scorcher called “It Scares Me”, which was released on Bedrock records in 2003 was a favorite among many top progressive deejays and the flipside mix by Micali and Ajami was just an anthem. So now Cambas brings you Coded Love, released by Intrinsic Records. As for remix duties, they bring in relative newcomer for some in Nathan Coles.
INT017 – Christian Cambas – Coded Love
A1-Original Mix B1-Nathan Coles Mix
A1 – Original Mix
The original is another of the smart progressive tunes. In 2001, progressive caught on bigtime but deejays and artists made such boring tracks that people lost interest and now we are in late 2004 and now the smart progressive is coming out. The original mix is so finely layered with glorious sound upon glorious sound with a vocal that is pitched near the back at times. I think it is meant to be something that works with the tune and does not take the entire focus of the tune. You can tell that Cambas like Nikola Gala in INTL 016, knows what he is doing and the track is well thought out. It should be a huge hit with the progressive deejays and it should go down real well in the clubs. You also see why Intrinsic is such a hit with big name deejays because they seem to pick smart and upcoming producers who smartly make excellent tracks.
B1 - Nathan Coles Mix
Side B on this release is more of a progressive tech house track. I like my tech house, really dark and dirty, so this does not pick my interest immediately. It makes use of some well placed sound effects near the back and the track seems to have been give a funk lift, not a facelift but a funklift. This will appeal to more of the funky progressive house loving deejays that like to use more funky elements to start their sets. The mix certain gives you an option, you can go progressive or more funky progressive house. The track does grow on your and the funk eventually makes you give in and start dancing to it. Another smart track by another smart producer.
Conclusion:
Intrinsic simply put are a bunch of smart people that know who to pick and they usually get the best results, this is no different. If you have not picked up the Nikola Gala INTL 016 release, get that as well but this totally rocks. Well done Intrinsic!
