JDS follows up the massive "Purple Funky Monkey" with this beast of a 12". Do JDS know something that we don't?
JDS - Disco Rockers/Wipeout 5 (Thursday Club Records)
The JDS rocket continues on, blazing a scorching line across the music industry and leaving massive destruction in their wake. Who knew that the former trance duo could make breaks? and then after the shock settles in, you realize they have tremendous skills. They hit you first with the mammoth "Blackout", which was just a huge record for a wide variety of people, then they unleashed the monster known as “Purple Funky Monkey”, which destroyed dance floors, the world over. Now JDS (Darren Pearce and Julian Napolitano) are coming out with their 3rd single, called Disco Rockers/Wipeout 5 and these are in preparation for their album, to be released in the summer of 2005, which is hotly anticipated by yours truly and just about every other break beat lover/fan/writer.

A1 – Disco Rockers B1 – Wipeout 5
Disco Rockers
This is new territory for JDS, if you have followed them for the past few years, electro was never something they truly explored. Side A starts with a filthy driven beat, with a German style voice saying “Dirty, dirty, disco rockers”. The song is more electro-breaks but it is just really dirty and very incredibly filthy, just the way that I love my music to be. You can tell that JDS make their tracks to destroy dance floors, this is a pure club track and it will do massive damage. I just pray that Hybrid have this track and they play it next week at their Toronto gig. I’m not quite sure, if this will cause the same amount of damage that “Purple Funky Monkey” did, earlier in 2004. The track really grows on your after a few listens and you would lose your mind to this track, if it was played it out in a club but that is the way tracks should be made, to destroy dance floors.
Wipeout 5
If you thought, you could not dance enough after Disco Rockers, you will be incredibly surprised. Wipeout 5 is a up tempo break beat banger, it starts with a quick drumline and it is relatively quicker than most break beat tracks that I’ve heard in the last few months. This is obviously designed as a peak time record for break beat deejays and it will serve you well, if you play it. A vocal is in the background going “It’s all for you, swwwing” as the vocal repeats “It’s all for you”, the track increases its speed and builds up till it completely explodes. The track is pure madness and JDS are incredibly intelligent for making this track. I love the up tempo nature of the song, no laying down here, this is a strictly get up and dance record.
Conclusion:
Please Santa, I’ve been an extremely good boy in 2004, can you please get JDS to move their album ahead to say April 2005?. I doubt Santa will listen to me but what you need to know is, JDS are officially new break beat kings and their singles prove it. They can now join Pilgrem, Freeland, Meat Katie, Elite Force and Hybrid and others among the Kings of Break beat. JDS’ tracks are designed for maximum dance floor damage and they certainly draw on their past experience as producers. Who knew that trance producers could become break beat kings? Get this record, it totally rocks!
