Andy Jay Powell and Mike Nero bring you another harder trance influenced record with that uplifting sensibility, this time it is Para X aka Van Roezel's latest.
Para X aka Van Roezel- Lost In Memories/Sunset (Active Sense Limited) (ASR-LIM-1)
Andy Jay Powell and Mike Nero’s German based label Active Sense is releasing a limited 12”, done by Para X aka Alex Van Roezel. As you well know, Andy Jay Powell and Mike Nero have been production partners and label partners for a number of years. Active Sense is what they are releasing their own productions and some from other artists. Van Roezel has one record so far, it was Active Sense 008 called “Space Romance/Are You Ready”, which was well received, it was released in April of 2004. So he dons the Para X alias for some more uplifting trance, which is Active Sense’s goal.
Para X aka Van Roezel – Lost In Memories/Sunset
A1 – Lost in Memories B1 – Sunset
A1 – Lost In Memories
This starts very quickly and very bangin, which is the way that trance should be made, none of this wussy Armin influenced tripe. This uses some heavenly synths to achieve its goal of taking the listener into pure bliss and it is about time that someone created some decent trance music. The tune uses a well created riff to just grab your coattails and take you into tranceland. The breakdown is not as massive as I expected it to be but the song works nicely, nothing fancy, nothing lame about it, solid first side here. The track just breaksdown simply then goes back to what it does best, which I argue is simplicity. I love what Nero and Powell are trying to achieve here because they are not pushing some overused sound, just smart trance music and we know the scene needs more of that.
B1 – Sunset
Sunset is least of the banger of the two tracks, this starts a bit slower then Lost In Memories but I like it more because the riff work is just incredible and it takes me back to my old trance influenced days. I think the scene needs more of these types of tracks, nothing fancy but nothing crappy about it. The melody is just beautiful, it has no huge incredibly long breakdown nor does it attempt anything superficial. Van Roezel again here goes for simplicity rather than complex, which has caught a lot of artists these days. I like how Van Roezel just goes for your ears immediately, no long winded buildups, no long winded breakdowns, just simple exciting trance music.
Conclusion:
A decent release from Nero and Powell out of Germany, if you like your trance to be just simple and you want a good record then get this, it is nothing fancy but solid nevertheless. A good job by Van Roezel, more of this please!
