The latest incursion on growing label TRR is Hydroid's latest track, 'Drawn To Depth'. Expect progressive trancey beats featuring a remix from Peter Dafnous...!
Having completed a number of quality tracks and remixes on a variety of labels, Hydroid has graced the studios of TRR with this latest chilled, prog trance monster...
:: Hydroid - Drawn To Depth :: TRR :: TRR008
1) Drawn To Depth (Original Mix) Quite thoughtfully paced, this track eases you into a chilled progression of deep, calming bases and strings of melodic delights which flow and repeat, pulling you along with them. As I lean back in my chair, listening to 'Drawn To Depth', I noticed that you just can't get away from the fact that its so soothing - the thick bass and smooth pads do an excellent job and you don't get bored of the gentle melodies that swirl and flow through as the track goes on. Whilst soothing, the defined beat and simple percussion do their bit to give that dancey edge. Very, very nice music.
2) Drawn To Depth (Peter Dafnous Remix) Peter Dafnous has pitched in an effort which is nearly 10 minutes long! Its much more quickly paced and the beat is punchier and stronger so you get the feeling this one contains more trance than progressive. This is realised even more as the track moves on - a chord progression is developed and the track gets much busier with subtle synthy riffs and active basses filling the background. The melodic element isn't such a focus in this remix - a very simple lead follows the main chord progression and instead the emphasis is on the prominent lush pads which glide across the rest of the sound. They really fill it up and provide a nice touch of uplifting sensation to a track which is made up of mainly proggy elements.
Conclusion:
TRR is showing its more progressive side this time around - and its quite an attractive side too! Hydroid's Original Mix is a lovely, really melodically based bit of prog trance, whilst Peter Dafnous trances things up a little more with his long and thoroughly executed remix.
