i:Vibes have reviewed the White Lable from VANDIT. 3 mixes on this one, by Paul van Dyk, Junk Project and Phuture Punk, but are they really good? Read in to find out...
We are starting with the Paul van Dyk remix. Absolutely no doubt, this is number one. I haven't found any information on these (or this) producers/producer. Only Paul himself has been playing this track all the spring, summer and autumn 2001. And I think that it's very logical, that Paul made the best remix. We also have no possibility to get the first original file and to compare it, but I think that Paul himself took part in the composing process. The track sounds very warm, reminding me of the spring times. The sound format does not fit the closed hall at all - it should be played on a big stadion, on the open air, when it is a warm sunny day; and you will see happy faces around you. this sound makes me feel good, "Everything is alright". Should be played loud - in my headphones it is not hundred percent impressive. The line between chillout nd dance genres is also hard to find - massive bassline and a soft melody. Defini! tely recommended.
Junk Project remix did not inspire me very much, I even can tell you the reason - it is the second track on current vinyl. The beginning is very agressive - hard techno beats scared me, then a foreign voice sample appeared from somewhere (I couldn't recognize the phraze, something about "right now"), is absolutely useless here. First two minutes are just essential beats, but in two minutes you can't get a headache, so we go on in our listening process. Two minutes are gone and - boom - the melodic chorus appears from the silence. I did not expect it. Really. But in this moment everything became clear - could not be compared with Paul van Dyk remix at all, but if you try to compare it will sound like a very amateur rework. Not the best work, I have met worse remixes.
Phuture Punk remix is the last represented work. I have no information about "Phuture Punk", but somehow they have found the way to be placed as the third track. It is not a remix, it is an unfinished jamming. Junk Project used one voice sample, Phuture Punk used a whole A4 text page (even more than my review!). This way of mixing is not suitable here. I have heard the Club Attack chorus only once, also just inserted into the track using the "Cut & Paste" methods. This is also not trance but some dance or club sound - the remixers have lost the track idea and it does not impress you. Overall impression: if you want make them happy, jumping and screaming, feeling good - do not waste time and spin Paul's remix. This is the only one right choice. Tracks 2 and 3 will stay in your musical archive as a material "how to kill a brilliant sounding tune and turn it into a regular speaker overloading track". Done ;)
