K90 blasts this album off in style and at a ferocious pace too. There's no waiting around here - it's 148BPM from the get go and straight into Recover's excellent style of energetic and tough edged trance. The first CD is well balanced - it's predominantly tough trance, but there are some vocally led tracks which are used to break things up a bit, plus there are also a quite a few tunes with good, trancey riffs in to help keep a euphoric edge to things too. Highlights of this kickin' CD have to be ATB - Humanity (Rank 1 Remix), Deep Drive - The Rider (Arc in the Sky Mix), Woody van Eyden - Si-n+r-je (Darren Christian Remix) and rather awesomely Silent Electra - For this Moment (Jochen Miller Remix). It was a real treat to see 'Silent Electra' in there, it's a quality tune plus it sounds wicked when played at this album's pace.
The second CD is O'Callaghan territory. This is immediately apparent as you're greeted with lush trancey pads as the CD begins. The pace here is much more relaxed than K90's onslaught of tunage. We're only hitting 140BPM, the norm for trance at the moment. If you take a look at the tracklist, you'll see that O'Callaghan has his name in no less than 8 of the tracks, which is half of the CD, so he's not just showcasing tunes from the Recoverworld stables, he's making sure a lot of his own work gets in there too. The underlying theme for CD2 is a much deeper yet driving sound, and this is reflected in some of it's best tracks which include John Askew - Homesick, John O'Callaghan - Stormy Clouds (Greg Downey Mix), John Askew - Nailgun and John O'Callaghan - Chameleon (Thomas Datt Mix). Again, as was with CD1, CD2 is excellently mixed with no boring 'deadbeat' sections whilst you wait for one tune to wind down and the other to wind up, it's pure action all the way. Some of the mixes on the album are very interesting indeed - track 6 on CD2 only lasts for 55 seconds before it's mixed out.
In a nutshell, this album deserves some serious checking out.
Conclusion:
2 CDs of absolutely top drawer stuff from the world of Recover and all of its sub-labels and DJs/producers. Indulge yourself in some energetic and compelling trance music and at the same time experience the quality of Recoverworld in the comfort of your own home.
