Spanish dj and producer Abel Ramos is giving us some brand new stuff - do we like it? This review will get the question answered!
Bubblefish Remix Original Remix Randy Katana Remix
Heavy, anxious and aggressive! Three words, three meanings and three excellent desricptions of the opening of the Bubblefish Remix. The tune itself starts off pretty pending and rambling but about a minute into the track a dark side starts to arise and as the time goes by more and more elements are added to it. When the tune comes to its climax, a wonderful dark atmosphere has been built up in which a straggling melody plays the leading roll, a melody that probably, and hopefully, will get some playtime on the different dancefloors across the globe – something that it really deserves! The Original Remix lacks the natural agressiveness that the opening track has as it is more focused on the tribal sound, which doesn’t really manage to build up the same sweeping, dark feeling. However, this version does manage to bring a heaviness which is definitely on the same level as the Bubblefish Remix thanks to an outstanding bassline. As you can imagine the same main melody prevails in this version although here it plays an even bigger role due to the lack of surroundings. Normally this leads to something dull and meaningless but this melody, with its straggling style, is such a strong weapon that it can shoulder this heavy burden! The last remix, from Randy Katanda, continues in the same style as the Original Remix and includes some great glimpses of creativity and experimentation. Katana has succeeded to get a great flow that sometimes, however, can become a little too one-sided and monotone. Although despite those little flaws the whole impression is high just because of the creativity and the experimenting that he from time to time treats us to!
Conclusion:
A very good realease by Mr. Abel Ramos that has a high lowest level with a clear main star in the Bubblefish Remix! This vinyl will mainly appeal to the DJs as the tracks are more adapted to the dancefloors instead of the MP3 player and that’s why I really recommend the DJs to add this one to their bags! The melody is a real dance floor killer which I really would like to jump to in a club!
My last call is an 8/10.
