Here’s one of the latest releases on Deep Blue Records, home of Bobina and Double V. Lev Gorodinsk, otherwise know as Leo G presents Supersonic with a remix from rising German trance jock Martin Roth.

:: A1 – Original Mix
:: B1 – Martin Roth Remix

As far as I’m aware this is the first release from Lev Gorodinsk on Deep Blue and is the first record I’ve heard under his Leo G moniker. When you see a big name remixer on a record it’s always worth having a look at. What’s this got to offer then?

Let’s get stuck into the Original mix. The start of the record is a downright relaxed affair with a soft bass line and dreamy background synths sliding into the forefront. You can feel it building towards something and soulful piano melody creaps itself into the track with the soft relaxed sounds clicking in and out. Everything cuts out into a calm dreamy seaside relaxed state. It’s a nice little break from a soft build which cuts back into the track with a soft bass line and a filtered vocal blemishing Super Sonic. No big euphoric melodies but soft layered pattens and relaxing backing sounds all mix together to make a quite dreamy track.

With the original being so soft it’s up to Martin to speed things up and get a bit of bosh cooking. Don’t expect his remix to be as relaxed as Leo’s. Not to disappoint Mr Roths remix opens with his trusty signature beat. Introduce a few little sounds to get it chugging along then bang in a good edge kick that signals its intent. At the start there is a deep riff building up in the track and the vocal that the original made use of is in here on the same sound. It’s building up to something this track with its cuts and in the background it feeds in what is the main hook to come. Before the melody comes in there is a nice piano sequence using the same sound as found in the original mix. A very long build and the melody finally hits the starting line. The strings echo out on each other with a hook to stutter along to while banging your fist to the beat. Martin has created a good uplifting energetic record out of a soft dreamy original but keeping some of the elements that made it.

Conclusion:
This is a good outing for Deep Blue. Martin Roth’s remix is the one to check out on here as I think it’s the stronger record of the two. The original may not be that much to my taste but fans of steady soft progressive trance will find it a ride worth hopping on. It’s another good remix job by Martin Roth who is fast becoming very popular amongst dance music fans.
