The latest release on SAW Recordings brings a brand new single from Dan Berkson. Using well crafted blend of house and electronic elements read on to find out why you should give this a listen.
:: Original Mix :: Dub Mix
Release Date: 18th November
Before I get to the track I’ll fill you in on a few little details about Dan Berkson. He is originally from the USA and grew up in a little town called Michigan. It was when he came over to London to study production that he found his love for house and electronic music. He’s released tracks for some very successful house labels and this release is by no means the last from him for some time. More are in the pipeline and rightly so if this one is anything to go by.
Onto the track then and I’ve have to say I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this. What stats out with a simple beat introducing bass sounds turns into a funky rhythm with some cracking electro singed touches. There is a chugging deep melody floating deep within the bass and what is a very electro effected vocal add’s more funk to the track. What really makes this track is the main dreamy string melody that comes out of the blue. When you think nothing really will happen it slides in and dare I say adds an uplifting feel to the record. When everything cuts back in a symbol induced state of drum and bass that dreamy melody comes to the forefront. It’s what gives the track its hook for me as without it I think the track would be a little lifeless. The Dub mix on this release is exactly that, just the same as the original but with the electro affected vocal in there.
Conclusion:
A very good electronic edge house record that has been excellent produced and put together. Two mixes on here which cater for those who like their records with or without vocals. I would have liked to see a remix or another track on the release as People is a cracking track and I’m sure not the last good production we will hear from this producer this year. House fans who like a bit of funk and electronic splash in their records will lap this one up.
