Starchaser return to the scene for their latest record on the mighty Vandit label. It's their latest one for some time by my records but it's got heat on the remixes from Martin Roth and Adam Sheridan...

The latest release on Vandit's main label reaches number 87 and its from an artist that has not had a release for quite a few years. Starchaser originally had a release on Vandit back in 2003 with their house tinted 'Falling Star' which got a special edit by Paul van Dyk. You may well remember that track, its one he used to hammer back in those days and one worth dusting off to have a listen to today. They have had a few releases in the time in between but none that have passed through my ears. Thomas Schwartz & Fausto Fanizza are back to bring new life into the project after leaving back in 2005. They return with two respectable names in the form of Martin Roth and Adam Sheridan who has produced two divine remixes.

:: Thomas Schwartz & Fausto Fanizza Mix
:: Martin Roth Remix
:: Adam Sheridan Remix
:: Adam Sherican Edit

The original mix here is really a double production by Thomas Schwartz & Fausto Fanizza who return to the project since a leave of absence in 2005. The vocal duties on here are a voice you should find familiar. That nice lady known to the dance population as Lo-Fi Sugar, who did some vocal work on Paul van Dyk's last artist album, she did the vocal work on his 'Castaway' record. The same gorgeous voice is back here on this one to create a very warm and inviting feeling with the record. This mix is the more relaxed of the lot with a nice build up and rolling groove on the bass with drips of sound scattered over the top. I must admit on first listen it sounded a little week but after a full investigation I found otherwise. It's rather uplifting in a part, sometimes dark in others and downright chilled out through the middle. It almost reminds of something Andy Duguid would produce with the feel it gives you.

Martin Roth picks up the pace with his remix and gives a real classy production for his remix. The track begins with a hard pounding beat that you would expect with a Martin Roth Track. The sounds begin to roll in and they begin with a sparkle of bright edged chords. The kick begins and gives it a little more aggressive feel. The rolling bass grumbles along behind the vocals that slide in early in the track. They are the only item that remains as the build cuts for a moment then returns with a bar effect string that echo's in and out. The track cuts back to the vocals right in the middle with the echo string creating the mood. The meat of the track feeds in a real nicely worked melody with the changes just right, complimented by small drum rolls to feed back i the kicks. The whole track is over ten minutes long and it feeds in things then puts them all together after 6 minutes so its not one you want to mix out of early.

The last remix on here is one by Adam Sheridan and its the pick of the bunch for me. The overall feeling with the mix is a relaxed one with a mesmerising piano hook on the build up and an uplifting breakdown with Lo-FI Sugar providing the audio delights. The track begins with a soft edged baseline just to get things started then swoops into action with a short rising build, a little tinged of piano then back with the beat to leave a dubbed out piano string playing. Sweeping a few seconds after that the main piano lead kicks in and it hooks you into the track. Its not so much as a basic lead though as it rolls off on the end creating a nice sound. When the vocals feed in that piano gets dubbed down then feeds back in as it builds once more. The main break sees a melodic backing bass with a break beat over the top. The vocals invite you to listen in and take notice with the changes in groove keeping you interested. The main thing that drew me into this track was the piano lead, it’s just got something about that catches the ear. There are two mixes here but the Adam Sheridan Edit is more or less the same as his remix just cut down by two minutes.

Conclusion:
A very welcome return for the Starchaser project with two remixes to suite most tastes. The Martin Roth mix carries more energy to it but Adam Sheridan's mix is my favourite out of them all in here. It's another Vandit release you should have in your collection.
