Monster Tunes are very proud to have the very talented Ben Nicky on board for their latest single release. 'Jet Stream' is just the single track EP but it’s more than enough for even the most casual of uplifting trance fan...
The strength of the UK trance scene is quite immense at the moment with some hugely talented producers coming up onto the scene. One of those to appear over the past few years is one Ben Nicky. He is one that we rate very highly here at i:Vibes for his energetic uplifting style and his passion for music. We interviewed him earlier in the year where he let slip about a new sound from him to come later on this year. It is now later on this year and this new sound has most certainly arrived. His last few productions have been real smashes with the delectable 'Tears' and more recent rough and tough collaboration with Mark Eteson in 'Altitude'. This latest single track release packs plenty of punch and is worth investigating.

:: Jetstream
From the onset of this track it's brimmed to the top with energy. He's really knocked the BPM up on the flat four beat patterns here to notch the tempo up a touch. Add a gritty and deeply driving bass line with sweet rolling percussion and you would think this may not have a touch of the delicate Nicky uplift we have so been used to with his tracks. That uplift comes in but progressively so with bright pads and a leading melody chord that comes very prominent as it heads to a break. A nice touch of piano keys to lead, drop the beat, insert a smooth harmonic sweep of sound with a touching vocal note to drive home emotion along with the piano keys that build up the melody. The break is beautiful worked and when all the elements come together and the melody is in full flow this is an irresistible piece of uplifting trance. Very similar to the lines of a Simon Patterson record with that fine edge between aggressive builds and uplifting breaks. Ben Nicky is not a Simon Patterson, he is his own producer and this is very much his own track.
Conclusion:
This is another example of just why the biggest name on the scene, names like Paul van Dyk, Armind van Buuren and Judge Jules rate this young UK trance talent so highly. Polished production so shiny it’ll blind you! If you’re a tad partial for a bit of powerful uplifting trance, add this one to your playlist.
