Having changed their styles in recent years, look back ten and it was the trance scene where Blank & Jones made a name for themselves. Their second artist album 'Nightclubbing' was on of their finest and has just been re-mastered by the duo...
Going back in time is nothing new for German duo Blank and Jones. For the past few years they have been going back to the 80's and digging out the records that inspired the pair to get into music from a decade which many still embraces today. While they have release four volumes of their So80's compilation series so far, and number five on the way I'm sure, what you will really know them for is trance. It may be a genre that they don’t really produce in these days looking back ten years it’s one that built their reputation. You only have to dust off ‘DJ Culture’ to see how their style of today is a world apart from then. I in fact started off my Blank and Jones collection with the very album they have brought back to life this year ‘Nightclubbing’. It’s an album that got me hooked into the world of EDM even more than the ones before it. The simple but addictive beats of ‘Beyond Time’ and mad effects in ‘DJ’s Fans & Freaks’ were records you could never get tired of playing. The whole album was full of energetic club bangers that highlighted Blank & Jones as two of the most talented producers on the scene.
The original album came out 2001 and ten years later Piet and Jasper have decided to bring it to you once again. This time they have all the original tracks in full length, fully re-mastered form with the bonus addition of a second disc featuring the original remixes from tracks on the album. They are not new remixes from today but ones which came after the original release. You may remember Paul van Dyk using the Solid Sessions remix of ‘Secrets & Lies’ for his mix compilation ‘The Politics of Dancing’. That remix is there along with other mixes from Liquid Love, Jam & Spoon and Airwave. It’s a real treat having the originals in full length as they were all mixed together on the original release. One of my personnel favourites from the CD archive just got an improvement. It’s out right now on double CD or digital download.
