Biography:
One of the first releases by James Holden was under the alias Pulse State, for Silver Planet Recordings, called Lunar Tide/Ascend. That was in 1999, before he got really famous with his other productions such as his most famous one ‘Horizons’. Already with that first release he got recognition by Pete Tong. But the real recognition came when he released Horizons, this track was caned by Nick Warren, Sasha, John Digweed and all the other progressive trendsetters. It was also John Digweed that signed Mainline to his own label called Bedrock.
Horizons had the impact Holden wanted, everyone liked it. It came to the attention of Nick Warren (part of Way Out West) and he caned it non-stop for almost three months. It was made essential tune in Pete Tong’s radio show and the track got signed to Silver Planet Recordings.
The follow-up to Horizons was of the same quality, ‘One For You’. This one features also vocals on it. Again, a lot of attention to this release and it just confirmed that the man has qualities as a producer.
Currently his new track ’Solstice’, which hasn’t been released yet, is getting a lot of airtime/settime by John ‘00’ Fleming (Essential Mix), Nick Warren, Pete Tong, John Digweed, …
After Horizons he started a new project called Ariane, which got signed to Hope Recordings (with artists like Starecase, Max Graham, Timo Maas, …). Mainline together with Hywel Dunn-Davies got signed to Bedrock in that same year (2000). So 2000 was a really important year for Holden.
It hasn’t been long since James started his own label Easyaccess, and already he had a big release on it, Ogenki Clinic (with Gwil Morris) – First Light.
He has also gained a reputation as a remixer, hence he is being asked for numerous tracks, such like Into The Dawn from Accadia (Marcel Woods), Joshua Ryan, Starecase, New Order, Timo Maas and many others.
And now everything is looking good, his own dj career has lifted up, his productions are top notch. He released his first mix album, Fear Of A Silver Planet. And he has some new collaborations in progress.
