I'm finally getting around to this. I wanted to do it much sooner, I really did... but life has been too hectic so this has been pushed to the side unfortunately. I'm now living in Salem, which is very limiting when it comes to music. I may be moving yet again soon, depending on the day job. But all that aside this is my DJ Diary right?

A quick intro on me. I've been DJing for over 4 years now. I've headlined events throughout the western USA (Seattle, Portland, Eugene, San Francisco, Denver) and abroad in Hong Kong. I spin everything from drum and bass, breaks, 2step, electro, house, techno to hip hop. I try not to limit myself and just play good quality music no matter what genre, and most importantly I have fun doing it!

This past spring I started my own record label. Its been a long goal, and I have a huge road ahead of me... but I'm proud of myself and am very excited to be making this giant step in my career. The label is called So Broken Recordings. Named after one of my favorite artist's songs, can you guess? So Broken by Bjork. I also primarly spin and obsess over broken beat music be it: hip hop, breakbeats or drum and bass. But that's not all cause I've been spinning techno longer than anything else! So my idea for this label is to concentrate on broken beats, but not limit ourselves either. So far there are 3 USA artists: Jay Cynik from Seattle, Wikk!d from Eugene, Myself (Jade Bassix) from Salem. Jay Cynik primarily producers drum and bass, Wikk!d trip hop/downtempo, and myself I've been diving into techno and breakbeats. We have plans to add another artist soon, but I'm waiting to hear back from him. He's a super talented drum and bass and breaks producer... he performs live PAs. So far we have several tunes out circulating. I just sent a huge global press release and we've gotten some postive feedback from it, which is nice! Check out our site too at www.sobroken.com.

Other than spending my days with that I'm still DJing regularly. I just did my first show in Colorado last month. I co-headlined with The Electrician from Toronto for an all breakbeat night. I'm playing a private party this saturday in Vancouver, WA and am pleased to say that I've been asked to open for Dieselboy in Portland, OR in August.

I find these days that I'm concentrating less on drum and bass and I want to get myself out there more doing breaks, 2step, electro, house and techno sets. I find that the crowd response is much more positive and energetic at least when I spin those.

Upcoming releases, lets see we have several tracks already on the sobroken.com site. As for mixes Wikk!d just released a trip hop mix called Spring... which I think you should definitely check out if you're a trip hop fan. I'm planning on releasing Vertigo either late summer or early fall. It'll be a mix up of breaks, 2step, electro and drum and bass. I decided to put these all together mostly for convenience of me handing just one CD out instead of two separate mixes. The following release will be called Floorplay, which will be house, minimal techno, and hard techno. I'm super excited about both of these cause they'll contain original and unreleased tunes from So Broken Artists. I have some exciting plans for Floorplay too and I can't wait to get started on both of these mixes!!

Well that's it for now!

xoxo
