It has come to my attention that with most CD compilations I own, the second disc is almost always better than the first disc (Notable exceptions are James Lavelle's GU: Barcelona, and Sander K's NewBreed). But for the most part, this seems to hold true, and I have no idea why. Granted, most of my collection is Progressive Trance/House/Breaks, but I have some of the GateCrasher compilations, a few Euphoria's, and the old Trance Nations by Corsten. Just thought I'd share that. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

I know what you mean. As always with double CD release you always get one CD that you prefer over the other. There's been a few compilations that try to avoid this by making the two CD's different styles, one trance and mayby the other more house.
Its true with some of the older compilations I have the second disc does seem a bit more pumping but I've not noticed this with any new release of late.

Hmm, I had actually noticed this too, but it doesn't always hold true.

I thought it would be good to revisit this, with reference to three-disc sets (otherwise you get a 50-50 chance that the second disc is better than the first).
Let's take a look at the 3-dics compilations I own.
Gatecrasher: Experience (Best disc: 1)
Gatecrasher: Resident Transmission (Best disc: 2)
Gatecrasher: Resident Transmission 2 (Best disc: 1)
Godskitchen: Direct (Best disc: 2)
Trance Nation 20 (Best disc: 2)
Trance Republic (Best disc: 2)
Bonkers 12: The Dirty Dozen (Best disc: 3)

| When it comes to the 3 disc compilation Gatecrasher Classics both disc 1 and 2 are good, but disc 3 is horrible. To be honest the mixing sucks on all 3 discs - but the track-selection is pretty good on 1 and 2.

Wasn't it mixed by a computer? They should have got somebody else to do it, since Bond & Hardwick are off on their own.
I might still buy this, it looks better than Godskitchen Classics.

| Scott Bond, Eddie Halliwell and Matt Hardwick no longer have residenancy at 'crasher so they couldnt really mix it... it says Gatecrasher Classics but its actually owned and made by the same people who do MoS CDs. Thats why all the classic CDs have the same songs on... the best one if heard is Renaissance Classics. Check that one out...
