As you've probably seen, me & andy have got our site up & running now, so we're going to be doing the long awaited bootleg competition, we will set a closing date for all entries, all must be genuinely your own work, and all qualities are appreciated, it's only for fun, but should bring some interesting tunes. We will up these possibly 2 a week to the server then and have an overall vote, what we first need to know is how many people are interested... post here if you are, and we'll go from there Laughing

I would love to knock out some bootlegs, i have so many ideas, its just the matter of getting a good prog, im running Windows XP at home, most of the progs are for 95/2000. If anyone could help me find a decent mixing prog that runs on XP i would up for this 10000000%!!!!!!

is the prog is for win95/98 theres a good chance it'll run
if its for win2000 theres a very very good chance it'll run

i got a mate, who i set up xp pro on, and hes had Traktor/mj studio/fruity loops/mixmeister/cool edit running perfectly on xp,
i aint heard of a mixing prog so far not working on xp yet

ps im sure xp has a compatibilty program so that win98/nt programs can be made to work with xp, to a certain extent. cant remeber where it is, maybe that can help?

what programs have you tried?

I havent downloaded anything as yet... when i go to download a proggy i see it doesnt list XP as a format and thats when i give up! After all, some of these things are 8meg jobs and im not gonna wait around for a prog thats not gonna work!!!!! Now i know, i'll try some out!!! Damn sites! i wish they'd list XP as a working format!

if you was trying to run a win98/95 prog on win2000 or other nt, then that would've probably caused you compatibility problems!, but xp was designed with the unification of both operating systems so that xp would have the speed/security/stabilty of NT whilst having fairly good comaptibilty with win95/98 programs, so that the migration of operatng systems for consumers would be easier!
so far only programs that need xp versions are mainly anti virus programs and system utilities/drivers, and sum one or two programs, in general alot of stuff works with xp Smile ,

what kind of songs in general can be bootleged/remixed fairly good, and what songs, should be avoided?

personally I find some vocals I like, then I'll find a couple of tunes and see which goes best, I use traktor and record live so they're not always perfect but its fun never the less, plus I got one or 2 ideas up my sleeve, the hardest thing is finding the accapellas, I got one mental idea and i need the lyrics cos I used the song with them on over it and it goes nice, but can't find the accapella newhere Sad

its just a case of playing around and seing what goes.. also i think if u ask the experts.. u have to try and get songs that have the same beat patterns.. i.e beats of 3 or 4.. and also obviosuly the BPM and pitch have to be correct.. Laughing
