Post Post subject: principles of ivibes (my opinions) Reply with quote

ok, i've wrote this in response to quite a few stuff ive seen, observations and stuff ive gathered, in part it was my attempt to explain certain aspects of ivibes, and i wanted to share with you, right now im gonna say, that all this is my view, wholeheartly it only reflects what i see, and others may have similar thoughts others may not, well anyway, from a few scribbles, that i put togther ages ago, ive manged to come up with this, if any of you have opinons on this or similiar stuff please feel free to do so, no without further ado, here it is

First of all the mp3 issue, I’ve always seen it as ivibes trying to bring unique/fresh and exclusive content, and in order to get access to privileged news and interviews, which makes ivibes great, is that they often have to go straight to the "horses mouth" i.e. labels/producers/record companies to get what ivibes needs! And often a prerequisite is that these companies and ppl would not deal with ivibes if it was in sum way in contravention of principles like for instant the big mp3 issue (and face it, its almost everyone out there) with ppl/company ivibes was dealing with, then at the least ivibes would not have gotten what it has already brilliantly managed to get so far, let alone guarantee future material!

That i believe as you most likely agree isn’t a good thing, what stream/admins and others vision for ivibes and have tried to do and so far have successfully pulled it off is to create/maintain/support a place of which is accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime, where they can just talk about what matters music! Or to just spend sum time, no politics/no prerequisites & conditions of any kind, no restraint on speech thoughts and opinion, a place free of various moral and ethical issues, where you free to expand knowledge and horizons of a wide range of music related subjects, whilst a place where you can seek refuge from the troubles of life if need be,

Why its shaped up to be what it is, because i believe its the future of how to do things, as an example many of the music webpages that haven’t evolved or have side skirted important issues have often done so at there peril and are often in one way or another cease to exist, just like the dinosaurs, become a past memory or just stagnant reminder of what the original author did not want in the first place there are a few that continue to survive but often have difficulties in staying available for sum time, and can get quite isolated

In order for ivibes to be what it has intended to be, its had to make 1 or 2 concessions, for ivibes to have a long outlook! i.e. the mp3 policy, there’s already other sites that can cater for that easily, its not like 4/5 yrs ago, when there was a lack them, now there’s an over abundance, and nothing unique can be offered, in that area, only thing was lacking was what ivibes was intended to achieve! So was ivibes born

Another factor, was that ivibes need complete control over its site, with no unwanted popups, any restrictions, and reliable/stable hosting, plus mysql database and php capabilities as well, now if you find a hosting service that does that free even cheap, I’ll be glad to know, i tired f2s when playing around a while back, and that wasn't even fit for amateur/hobby/experimental use never mind hosting a web page!

As ivibes is currently running, it has to pay server costs, usually generated out of displayed ads, as sum of you might be aware they aren’t as effective as they used to be, before in the early 99/00 with the internet dot .com business boom there was countless sites all over the internet, and after the big internet downfall, ad revenues evaporated and many a decent sites went under.

Now ivibes has a very talented/resourceful admin/crew members and users, together they contribute to ivibes collective as a whole, and the effort does not go unnoticed, what you see today is the hard effort of ppl, working for free, all volunteered working towards a common goal, towards the benefit of all trance/house/techno/breakbeat/ electronic and all forms of good decent music.

Even though ivibes is relative infancy, it has been nurtured into a astounding immense community, which in turn has further helped many ppl realise there potential as a result. I am more than confident this is the case, its almost a paradox that ivibes which primarily was born out for the love of music and to further expand on into the realms of music for everyone, but in my mind has actually gone further than that.

Its almost hard to quantify exactly, who far reaching ivibes is in many aspects, but thro the music its spurned a sense of spirit, a raging fierce spirit in the hearts of ppl deeply intertwined in it, and I see it everyday, whether ppl posting reviews or what not, or ppl in the forum helping each other, hell even ppl having a laugh as it was one big playground! , the possibilities for ivibes are endless, even though there is a lot being done, which we will see in the near future, there is a lot that can still be considered, as ivibes evolves, and further enhances itself to new levels

Like I said the other day quoting a very applicable line from a film “a faithful heart makes wishes come true” and no other place is this apparent than in the admins/crews and users of ivibes, all you hearts are in the right place, and this will see ivibes flourish with a ferocious tenacity to be the most innovative, and pioneering site/community there is setting new boundaries to what can be achieved and to show ppl in general the untapped potential of many peoples united visions for a better future irregardless of the any limitations and adversity they may face as they strive for an even more!

The future isn’t orange! Its ivibes! :p

he he..yeah it was a long one...but some very importnat points were made.. as you said it is all about voluntary work.. and pionnering to bring features that seperate the site from the many others who do the same. In the same time as i feel its a new venture..and im fairly new.. there can still be a lot done.. and if certain people were drafted in to ave more of an effect then the possibilites are endless..and connections would be many within the industry. Sometimes it seems as though suggestions can just be waved away... maybe because things may not want to be done at once.. or the admin have a certain view for where the site is going.. but i feel with the help of others it can be expanded into something really exclusive...
the people who work for i:Vibes are great and have really tried to establish themsleves and get involved. No matter how big or little your part is, i think everyone is valued..from Sygnus/Stream...down to the people who keep the forums alive-andy/ian ect ect... but peoples views should be looked into further and not just passed off as a yes and no.. or we'll do it later.. cos things never happen.... live for the day and be ambitious is what i suggest.. at the end of the day if it doesnt work out then so what.. a particular aspect may not work... but with the solid base of members that are regulars on the site..their input can help to give feedback,suggestions...ect and make it work..
But i think the main point i have to express is that: the potential is there to be a really big venture.. across all genres! not exclusively trance.. and maybe with a specfic layout... it can be the ultimate site for all music people....although it may mean dividing the music within the site...it merging everyone to one place!
