Biography:
When Cass Cutbush was working for the famous ‘Flying Rhino Records’ label, he met his partner in crime Pete ‘Slide’ Martin. It wasn’t long before they could be found in the studio working together, which was just chemistry. That led to Cass giving in his pink slip, and ‘Fire’ was born (together with Lee Burridge).
It all started with their infamous first production ‘Perception’, which was signed to Additive, and it was picked up by no one less then Sasha for his Global Underground in Ibiza. And that meant, universal exposure, recognition, and directly an established name.
That’s their best known record so far. This all happened in 1999, and the next years will only confirm their qualities.
But their sampling of vocals from the well known movie ‘Gladiator’ has brought star like status to them, that song, ‘Glad I Ate Her’ is highly sought after, but due to legal issues (no rights given to use the sample), it was released on ‘Fire999’, a subdivision of ‘Fire’, but only for very limited records.
2002 is the year where their first album has been released. ‘Burning The Candle At Both Ends’ is available on CD and on a LP Sampler (2x12”) and a very limited 10”. The album includes collaborations between vocalist Jason Donovan, and Sam Mollison (who has worked with Sasha).
In the short time they have been producing together (around 3 years) they already made a name for themselves. The names Cass & Slide are household names, bringing quality productions, and top notch remixes.
You can expect a lot more from them in 2002 and for the next years.
