The brand new single from Paul van Dyk enlists the talents of UK producer Kolonie for a trance tune worthy of the VANDIT label featuring a pumping PvD club mix which is not to be missed…
This will be the final Paul van Dyk single of the year and what a way to polish it off. Wishful Thinking comes together with UK based producer Kolonie. The man behind Kolonie is a guy called Kane Harris and his past releases have edged towards the more progressive side of things. He’s had releases of many of the major labels including Black Hole, Staement!, Enhanced Recordings and had a solo release on VANDIT with ‘Unified’. His producer skills and have not gone unnoticed by Paul and It’s not hard to see why he wanted him to come together for this latest Paul van Dyk single.

You have got two choices to make here, what mix will you play first. There are two very strong influences here with the original being a very melodic, softly spoken track with some gorgeous elements driven into every layer of the track. You can really see the influence from Kolonie in the original mix along with some Paal van Dyk production we all know ands love. The club mix is where things really get going on this track.
Where you could say the original is a nice tune to spin at the start of the night the PvD club mix is one you would bang on peak set. It’s aggressive, full of tempo and has a classic Paul van Dyk sound going off. When I first heard the mix it really did remind me of the productions Paul used to make in his early releases. Think of it as the young teenager now grown up into the mature adult. The melody is delivered beautifully and the whole track has a great energy powered by a banging beat. As Paul once said, its got to be banging. This mix certainly takes those words to task.
Conclusion:
Wishful Thinking is a lovely release from Paul and a great collaboration from one of the UK’s bright new producers Kolonie. Two very fine mixes to be had here but the one you will keep gong back for is the club mix, it’s tremendous.
