The very latest Paul van Dyk release is one to make note off with a collaborative acid frenzy featuring Phuture and DJ Pierre for a first Vinyl release from Paul for many years…
The world of acid is one which Paul van Dyk as a young DJ and music fan would have been heavily exposed to growing up. It is that acid sound which takes centre stage for his latest single release on VANDIT with a little help from one of the pioneers of the Acid sound DJ Pierre. He was part of the American house music group Phuture which was famous for defining the sound of acid house back in the late 1980’s. Between the two of them you have decades of musical talent for this new release which not only sees the usual digital format but also a three track Vinyl EP.
:: Digital EP Available @ Beatport
:: Acid Traxxx :: Paul van Dyk - Filthy Acid :: DJ Pierre - Phuture Acid
Now then, what you have here are three very tidy acid drenched tracks with a joint combo from both Paul and DJ Pierre alongside single efforts from them both. They have all been released digitally which you can find above as I’ve put the Beatport link to each in the tracklisting. They will as of writing get a full Vinyl releases which goes on general sale Wednesday though Paul van Dyk’s online shop. I do hope there are a few copies left as he ran a promo for those buying the digital release to get first dips at the physical release. Given the massive stature and following Paul has lets hope he’s pressed enough to go around.
The three tracks don’t really need a lot of comment from me, they are all simply delightful. Inject one seriously catchy acid hook and loop that over a journey you won’t want to stop is how I would describe ‘Acid Traxxx’. Paul van Dyk’s solo acid trip delivers a progressive build which keeps on going with a driving deep acid riff that’s just delicious. The little filthy acid vocal is a nice touch in there to. The solo acid abuse from DJ Pierre sounds more like a remix of the collaborative effort, which is no bad thing. The man knows how to tune up an acid record and he’s done a super job with Phuture Acid.
Conclusion:
The spread of musical style from Paul continues to grow, it’s not just banging trance he’s a master at as this latest release shows. It’s about time we have some new VANDIT music on the black stuff, just hopefully you like myself manage to get a copy of it before its sold out and available for criminal prices from resellers just looking to profit
