The new album from Spencer Brown will be here before the winter and he keeps dropping new singles from it to give you a taste of what is to come. The latest new tracks are called ‘SF To Cordoba & Curve’…
Spencer Brown, a leader in the new generation of progressive house and techno, presents the latest body of work to emerge from his forthcoming album “Equanimity.” Currently available on his diviine imprint, Spencer ups the ante with the massive double single, “SF to Cordoba // Curve.” ‘SF to Cordoba’ (w/ & Ezequiel Arias) is a transcontinental collaboration that embodies the rich history, culture, and electricity of the cities the track is named for. This cinematic single reveals a story through sound, building from warm bleeps and textures into an all-out progressive house/electro-stormer. ‘Curve’ lifts off with a dark, rubbery bassline and airy synths that offer the soundtrack to a free-spirited desert drive with no destination. “I first heard Ezequiel Arias’s music while on an airplane. His moody, hypnotic progressive grooves left me in awe in the air. I reached out and found out he likes my music, too, so we made a couple of tracks together for Hernán Cattáneo’s label SUDBEAT in 2022. Both of those collaborations (Mad Rush, Slow Burn) were made via the Internet. We met for the first time in person in 2023 in Córdoba before our show in Buenos Aires. Our chemistry in the studio was incredible–the same wavelength—very laid-back, fun energy together, which always produces the best results. In two days, “SF to Córdoba” was born. All the sounds were made with hardware. We tested it out the following day at our show at The Bow in Buenos Aires, and the crowd’s reaction spoke for itself,” Spencer Brown says. He continues, “The B-Side, ‘Curve,’ was a track I wrote during the lockdowns of 2020. It was the first idea I ever made with a hardware synth, a Behringer Model D, which I purchased out of boredom. While quite melodic, these tracks have provided massive dancefloor moments around the world.” The release of “SF to Cordoba // Curve” follows previous ‘Equanimity’ album singles, “20ms” (with QRION) and “Awu Wemadoda,” a track featuring Wilt Claybourne and five-time Grammy Award-winning South African male choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Following his previous albums, 2018’s ‘Illusion of Perfection’ and 2020’s ‘Stream of Consciousness,’ ‘Equanimity’ is mixed into one continuous piece and features additional collaborations with the musical elite, including Ezequiel Arias, ilan Bluestone, Late Night Shri, Luttrell, and POS (aka Above & Beyond’s Paavo Siljamäki).
:: Stream the new single here Spencer Brown will support the release of ‘Equanimity’ with his most ambitious tour, which kicked off earlier in August and will feature an extensive run of North American dates through early 2024. It’s important to note that a Spencer Brown DJ set is an entirely spontaneous and authentic music experience - no two sets will ever be the same. This results from Spencer living and breathing music to the point where he knows every facet of every track in his arsenal inside and out and knows how to program his sets according to his audience. The tension, the ebb, and the flow to the point of dance floor explosion is a true art pained by Spencer. Select dates on the tour will feature a unique “Divine Inspirations” live show that will present the ultimate Spencer Brown experience. Tickets are available here.
