One of the hottest imports of recent months gets snapped up by Extravaganza for a UK release. Two versions included, a bouncy trancer and a progressive mix on the b side means the 12" should cross a few boundaries.
A Side "Trance Mix" B Side "Progressive Mix"
I have a white label of this track so I don't know if these are the original mixes of the Epic Monolith but I don't really care as what we have is a bouncy mid paced, light to medium hard trancer. The a side starts promising and continues well, off beat soft bass and mild twittering but not too overdriven acid background noises flesh out the thumpy trance beat. The first break uses a similar sound to the now infamous Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence soundtrack and and then breaks into a lightweight but uplifting trance lead and after a couple of bass swooshes off everything trots again till the second break which is very similar. The beats become stripped down and the acid noise comes slightly to the fore with more techno swoops to add atmosphere and back come the merry christmas chords. While this track is not groundbreaking at all it is nicely produced and gallops along so for someone like me makes an ideal mid set record amongst your other favourite Euro bouncers.
The b side progressive mix seems all well and good, with alot of the same noises but with the up and down climax and tease of the a side removed and replaced with traditional progressive flatness (eugh!!). This item will be in stock at the new ivibes store opening soon as we have cornered most of the promos on the market until then I have heard a little bird say that there may be some available from www.redemption.co.uk but don't tell anyone I told you.
