First Half
Just putting the CD on the first several tracks mixed by the Tidy Boys, just shows the quality of what is coming up in the CD. Signum\\\'s \\\"Coming on Strong\\\" has been a big track for the past couple years and this new remix by Crow aka David Renno and Dirk Nothroff is one which is just coming out around this time. A more trancey affair from Crow than usually expected, this is a great trance track to start the CD off, and this is even highlighted more by the next 2 tracks. DJ Vortex\\\'s \\\"Incoming\\\" with the Arome Mix, and also The Riot Brothers\\\' \\\"Ripped Out\\\" is a great start to heavy pounding beats and a sign of the typical Tidy Trax style as shown in their last compilation album. The mixing is of the typical nature from the Tidy Boys, solid and not lacking in any way, and these 3 highlight 3 of the biggest tracks of the moment.
The next 3 tracks mixed by the DJ simply known as \\\"The Freak\\\" are no worse, and yet again show a more defined trancy sound, with Russenmafia, Marc Dawn and DJ Hein bringing in a more European sound from Pulse Records, Drizzly as well as the massive Silicon Records Holland. The mixing is yet again superb from The Freak and as we get into the DJ Hein track, we seem to be venturing into a darker and more harder tipped side of things which reminds me of the typical German Hard Trance sound, and is truly exceptional! \\\"Energetic Rhythm\\\" is already one of my favourite tunes of the CD and is one of the most euphoric hard trancers I have heard to date, truly massive!
Jon Bishop has been a long persona within the Tidy arena and his selection of tunes represents a changing point, as we move to a more techy side of things even more, and is reflected by a more Tidy Trax sound from a year or 2 ago. Champion Burns is Nigel Champion and Robert Burns and this track is a more bouncy track than the previous 6, and is a great transitional one. The next 2 tracks from Anne Savage and Jon Bishop himself represent the sound of Tidy Trax at the moment, and with Anne Savage being one of the forerunners in the Tidy Arena, what better than to use her track? Jon Bishop\\\'s track is a great party track, and I swear it samples some movie but I can\\\'t quite think of it? Perhaps someone want to shed some light on that? A great track nonetheless.
Moving on, the Stimulant DJs show us a couple of their latest tracks in the next 2. \\\"Stop the Groove\\\" and \\\"Rebelz\\\" show us the definitive sound of Tidy Trax with the bouncy bass and funky melodies which cause a big stir at clubs such as Sundissential and Heaven on Saturday nights. This also comes with the track by Bouncin\\\' Bud, which adds a bit of harmonics and electronic whirs, which make it equally as interesting, and a great selection!
Miss Behavin\\\' is the latest female DJ to be added to the Tidy lineup, following on from Lisa Lashes, Lisa Pinup, Anne Savage and Rachel Auburn, she is none less talented, and the next 3 tracks show that very well. Starting off with John Whitemann\\\'s Annihilation, another bouncy hard houser which adds the very noticable \\\'Tidy bassline\\\' as well as synths to it. Her mixing is of top notch quality and the transition into D & A\\\'s Demons is funky to say the least. Spacekorn remix this previously more trancy track into a pumping house trance cross-over, before taking you further into the hard house journey with Ingo\\\'s \\\"Like This\\\". A very upbeat bouncy track which is bound to get your feet moving even if you don\\\'t like Hard House!
To finish off the first half of the CD, we reach the final 2 tracks mixed by Mark Gray, finishing off the CD in style with the Tidy sound we are so accustommed to. His 2 tracks, the first by Ilogik and Paul Janes, and the second, an installation from Mark Gray himself is a great finisher and truly quality for those Hard House / Hard Trance lovers as \\\"Focus Your Eyes\\\" is truly an exceptional track, giving a somewhat psy-trance feel to it, and moving slightly away from the hard house sound into a deeper and more throbbing genre.
All in all, a great first CD, and although I liked the first half more, the overall idea of the \\\'first half\\\' is excellent and gives you an idea of what is to be expected in the second half.
Second Half
Instead of the 6 DJs from the first half, the 2nd Disc sees 5 DJs including Lee Haslam, Paul Glazby and Tidy Girl Lisa Lashes.
Starting off with Lee Haslam, he brings in 2 of his own productions in the first 3 tracks; namely \\\"Your Serve\\\" and \\\"Here Comes the Pain\\\". Both are great tracks to start the 2nd CD, and throwing in the Krazy Nut Mix of \\\"Isn\\\'t it all a Little Strange\\\" by S.H.O.K.K. adds a bit of the German flavour from Overdose Records. The S.H.O.K.K. track came out during the summer of last year but is still a big big track in many DJ boxes and this addition to the CD highlights the diversity aimed for in this CD. Lee Haslam has been at the forefront of the Tidy escapade over the past few years, overlooking much of the development of the label, and here he also looks over the production of the 2nd CD as a whole.
Jez and Charlie are 2 people I have not heard much of in the past, but after hearing their 3 track selection, including 2 of their own tracks, I have to say, they are destined to be in the top leagues of the hard, bubbly side of house and trance.
Moving onto Ingo aka Thomas Ingamells\\\' part of the set, this is a guy who we saw a track from in the first part with his track \\\"Like This\\\", and he\\\'s here doing the mixing of 3 of his own tracks under his Neutron Tom guise, as well as his track \\\"Boom\\\" under Ingo. The tracks reflect what he is capable of as a producer and also as a DJ, and this kind of funky bouncy hard house is what does it for the dance floor these days.
Following on from Ingo is probably the most well known of the bunch; Lisa Lashes, who has been there from beginning more or less with her fuse of hard house and bounce hard trance. Here she shows the diversity, even with 3 tracks, by bringing in Medicine Men\\\'s \\\"Psychopunk\\\", and Ilogik\\\'s \\\"Make it Happen\\\" which has been remoulded by the hard house gurus Pants and Corset, who in the past have smashed dance floors to bits with their productions and remixes. Pumping hard house pushing the music to the limit is where the set is at now, and John Doe\\\'s \\\"Unknown\\\" guise, with the D6 Pill track is also one of the best on the CD. Grinding, rolling and bouncy this is sure to cause a riot on the dance floors worldwide. John Doe in the past has been known to cause damage in his productions and this one is no less damaging!
Paul Glazby has been a name we\\\'ve seen more and more off in recent times, as he has surged through the ranks in the hard house scene with his unique blend of sounds. Here he takes you on the final journey of the Tidy Trax saga here and he finishes it off in style with 2 of his own productions as well as RR Fierce and K-Live\\\'s \\\"Yamamba\\\" which finishes it off with that interesting touch to it and makes up a great 2nd disc.
My personal view is that on an overall basis, both discs have their highlights. The latter part of the 2nd disc causes a riot on my speakers, but then the first half of the 1st disc is definitely of truely immense quality.
If you have been a fan of Tidy Trax for a while, this CD blends in the best of all aspects from Tidy Trax, bringing in a bit of trance, and a bit of techno to compliment their usual quality of hard house elements.
Definately one worth checking out!
8/10!
