We've reached halfway on the journey to coolness; the party is just beginning however! Ibiza is coming, so whats gonna be cool on the island of dance as it were this year? Clubs, bars and beaches are whats makes Ibiza, and this is what I set out to look at, these are what I consider to be "Cool" in Ibiza...

When you're in Ibiza, the sunsets amzae you, the drinks paralise you and the music liberates you - and you wonder why you've never been before; then this should help decide and act as a guide for people travelling there this summer. Enjoy...

First-things-first, you wanna know where the best "watering-holes" are - the BEST bars, cuz the island is full of bars and pubs, but for the best drinks and best atmosphere you might wanna check some of these out:

1) THE BASE

The Base is only two years old; but has seen some serious history, and the bar is what it is today because of the people that make it, and who is more of a character than Charlie Chester?

The summer of 2001 officially went off with a bang when The Base finally flung open it's doors and started serving up the usual doses of Balearic madness...

Steve Lee reigns supreme on the decks, Sahara playing weekly on Saturdays and Mark Doyle and Matt Collins (from Hed Kandi) holding residence on Sundays, so no matter when you go, it is one powerful week of music; every week!

The Base in 2001 won the coverted "Mixmag 2001: Best thing about Ibiza town" award and Ministry cited it as: "the hippest bar along the porside strip." Jay-Kay sung an impromtu performance of 'Suspicious Minds' with Helvis last year and said: "You'll have the time of your life..."

2) CAFE DEL MAR

You all know this for being the infamous compilation-spawing beach bar-come-ice-cream parlour which is the best place to go to hear the the "disappearing sun warming the lapping waves."

It's modern features reflect our lifestyle whilst retaining the Cycladic style of Par Noussa. In the afternoon, under the veil of pleasant, light music and the sound of the waves breaking at the seashore, you will beable to relish indolently your coffee, your fresh juice, your refreshment or the beverage of your choice.

As the sunsets, Cafe Del Mar starts to turn into a spectacular club that throbs with mainstream music, fantastic drinks and exotic cocktails and above all people who are dtermined to have fun!

3) BORA BORA

This is Bora Bora! Completely bonkers, and is presided by DJ Gee - a great place to watch nutted beach bums and beautiful bodies; never a dull moment! Another compilation-spawning beach bar, and in 1999 was titled: "the most exciting place in Ibiza" - Bora Bora can only get bigger and bigger!

There's three bars to check out, but what about the nightclubs and party nights? Check these stormers out:

1) Godskitchen @ Eden

Godskitchen move to the superclub: Eden this year - possibly the most exciting club on the island has had a £100,000 make-over by Godskitchen on their renowned theatrical extras, and have transformed every inch of the venue, bringing a new a new and totally exciting eperience for Ibiza's clubland.

Godskitchen's Tuesday night spot at Eden is set to be the most exciting summer dance promotion in Ibiza when the doors open on June 18th 2002! Doors open from Midnight - 7am and with a price of about €30-€45 (5500-7500 pesetas), value for money is garanteed...

Two high energy levels, 12 bars and a dramatic second floor balcony giving a breath-taking view of the dancefloor; Eden is like no other Ibiza club - Godskitchen have also employed a special team of lighting engineers to bring a unique visual experience.

Godskitchen promoter Chris Griffin says, "Godskitchen has worked all year to put together the most exciting and extravagant summer season in Ibiza. Clubbers in Ibiza are amongst the most up for it in the world and they deserve nothing less than the best. Our move to Eden has allowed us to offer the very best promotions and line ups, without ripping off the clubbers that make this island such a success."

Eden's manager Issac Hidalago says "We feel really happy to be the new home of Godkitchen in Ibiza. We have worked really hard to transform the venue like you have never seen before. Everybody will see this year how we do things, and how we will create the happiest parties of the summer."

Beaches... hot babes and hunky guys, the occasional mingers and the smell of freshly cooked fish from nearby restaraunts - aint it always the same? Here's my guide to beaches in Ibiza this year:

1) CALA BASSA

Lovely sandy beaches fringed by pines outside San Antonio. Family orientated, but with the craaaaazy watersports and bars for opres-sun entertainment.

2) ES CANAR

Catch the boat from Ibiza Town on Wednesdays and head for this family resort... Spend the afternoon in the local market and head back down the coast flashing your Henna tattoo or Che Guevara shirt!

3) TALAMANCA

Abit of "urban-sunbathing" or a quick dip after Pacha, a great spot to hire windsufters or dingies...
