Two amazing Dutch talents perform to bring us an outstanding night combined with an array of acrobats and fire breathers! Read on to see what you missed...
Godskitchen sure know how to put a night together. There have been some awesome memories of previous Friday Nights at the 'Code' venue including the Italian night and Tiesto's 6 hour solo sets. Friday 5th July was no different.
The line-up:
Chris Turner (Godskitchen Resident) Armin van Buuren Marco V
Arriving at roughly 9.45pm, we were welcomed by some amusing people dressed up and on stilts outside the venue who were handing out lollipops :-) As we went in, Chris Turner was warming up the house with some funky house beats. The place was still pretty empty at the time, but as the night went on it started to fill up. Chris's set comprised mostly of tracks with chunky harder edged beats. However, he managed to sneak in one or two trancey tracks. Non the less, he had the crowds full attention as they were jumping around in a frenzy on the dancefloor.
At both sides of the DJ booth on the podiums, there were some very talented dancers who were performing throughout the whole night. Every so often they would swap over to give each other a rest. Dressed up in sexy little Godskitchen outfits, I'm sure that they got as much attention as the DJ's performing on the night!
As midnight approached, we made our way downstairs to the main dancefloor as Armin was about to come on. Many other people seemed to have the same idea. It got pretty full down there, not overly packed though - it was just about right. There was a huge cheer as he came on to play his first record. We weren't quite sure what to expect from Armin - mainly because last week while on his way to Ibiza, his record box had disappeared and was thought to have been stolen. A DJ's worst nightmare, all those precious pieces of vinyl disappearing! However, I'm positive Armin got a lot of support from friends and record labels to help him get replacements. Fortunately, the latest news is that his records luckily turned up this weekend. Apparently the KLM airline made a mistake and forget to send them and they turned up on the lost baggage system.
Armin's 2 hour set was jam packed with some of the best trance tunes currently doing the rounds. He played some great anthems including a new but yet unknown euphoric mix of "Perpetuous Dreamer - The Sound of Goodbye", "Mauro Picotto - Back to Cali (PUSH remix)", "Solar Stone - Seven Cities (Armin van Buuren remix)" and the crowd were going wild! There were many of those moments with everyone instantly throwing their hands up in the air to the amazing breakdown of a fantastic track thus creating an amazing electric atmosphere. Always a wonderful experience! Armin's a very interactive DJ, often signalling to the crowd and pointing out to people plus giving us huge great big smiles. It was very obvious that he was enjoying it as much as we were on the dancefloor!
As the time approached 2 am, Marco V was prepping himself to come on. Not quite as tall as Armin, we could just about see Marco's head between two CDJ's where as Armin's head and shoulders were completely visible! However, we could still see him as me made an outstanding performance, playing some awesome hard tech trance tracks including many of his own amazing productions and even crossing the 'techno' line from time to time, with tracks from the likes of Marco Zaffarano. Marco's set was filled with pure energetic hard tracks. It was amazing to see the crowd going wild to almost every record that he played! When he played 'GODD', which was the theme track to INNERCITY last year, the whole dancefloor started to chant, "Do you believe in a God that satisfies, do you believe in a God that opens eyes, do you believe in a God that tells you lies, or do you believe in me?". It was an amazing moment, this track has been slated by many in the past, but we loved it and so did the rest of the crowed on the dancefloor. It integrated perfectly to Marco's set. We were also hit by many other stormers including Marco's very own remix of 'Cafe del Mar'.
Armin and Marco both put on an amazing performance for us, but the night will not only hold memories from this pair of highly talented DJ's/Producers. The night was also a Carnival night at Code. There were some amazing shows of people breathing fire, walking round on stilts and acrobats dangling from ropes tied to the ceiling. It was certainly spectacular and believe us when we say we nearly got toasted more than a few times by a very talented fire breather! He had some interesting props like a huge sword lit up on fire and a large hoop with flames flicking from it. Thank god he knew what he was doing! The front of the crowd actually stopped dancing a few times in anticipation to see what he was going to do next! It was certainly good fun though.
All in all, a fantastic night! We took many pictures of the night and here are just a couple to show you what you missed out on:
Here's the Trance Master himself :-)
One of the talented dancers just in front one of the lasers
The fire breather... just in front of the DJ booth, He scared Marco V because he jumped back as the Fire Breather turned around :-)
Yes, we nearly got toasted ourselves as this is what happens when you get a little too close
It seems as tho the fantastic dancers have lasers for eyes!
Down on the main dance floor...
Godskitchen put on an amazing show with the lasers!
Another hot girl playing with fire ;)
-=Sygnus=- and thanks to Dave for a couple of additions :-)
