After a couple years in the hiding, Sunscreem's classic has yet again surfaced, this time with several remixes including one from the Bristol boys Way Out West on the massive Five AM label.
For those of you who know of this classic from the mid-late 90s, will know that this is one of the true wonders of the house era. Original pushed out on DMC and Bonzai Records with the awesome Sunday Club Mix which was featured on the original Renaissance sets, this is definitely one the tunes of the past decade.
The latest remixes are no exception to that and will appeal to any house and trance fans alike, with the awesome Way Out West Mix
A1. Sunscreem - Perfect Motion (Starchaser Outer Space Mix) B1. Sunscreem - Perfect Motion (Way Out West Mix)
Starting with the little known Starchaser, we come across a nice bouncy progressive laid track which starts off to the likes of Gabriel and Dresden or similar style with its groovy progressive bassline and chunky stabs. For the first minute or two, we have nothing but a building bassline, and then the ever familiar vocal sample breaks in at the first break before taking off in a continuing progressive spell with the vocals peaking in the background. Reminds you of a somewhat electro house groove and is definitely a perfect track for the summer!
Nick Warren & Jody Wisternoff have been known for their awesome productions under their Way Out West guise for much of the past decade, and this remix is slightly different from their usual productions / remixes bringing in a slightly more throbbing and chunky remix, and unlike their usual material, there is a lot less melody than expected from them. You only first start hearing signs that this is indeed a Way Out West production when you head into the first series of breaks, and you hear their sublime rumbling bassline in the background. Combined with the superb vocals from the original track this is an ideal progressive track, which I could perhaps see Sasha or Seaman playing towards the end of their sets or at peak time.
The Five AM label has been releasing quality after quality in the past, having been heavily associated with the Bonzai label and creating their strong UK arm, and this release is no exception. Probably disappointing to some Way Out West fans, but nonetheless, you can't say its a bad remix. Still one of my favourites to this date and a perfect complement to the already impressive line of remixes in the past! 7/10
