'Bala- The Stand signals a break in tradition for Sumsonic featuring the first release from a non Sumsonic artist. Bala is the brainchild of Austin Leeds and Arial Baund from Miami, Florida. Both guys have a string of releases behind them, hailing originally from Buenos Aires, Ariel works for his own NEM imprint in Miami whilst Austin has or is having releases on many top labels like Bedrock, Saw ect.......'
"The track made an exclusive appearance on the recent Anthony Pappa compilation; 'Resolution' and has been supported by the cooler DJ's across the board. For the remix we let Darko loose with this one and he has turned in a chunky and driving alternative to that amazingly groovy original.
The A Side: "original mix" ...is another one of those tracks which just keeps getting bigger as it progresses. A rock solid groove is at the centre of everything and right from the start the cunning use of pads and brilliant drum programming lock you in. Great atmospherics along with neat little samples all combine to keep things rolling The bassline chugs along complimenting the unusual style of this track as it builds to a breakdown full of atmosphere, effects and vocal samples, the kick and bassline are teased in and out before really letting rip for the second half of the track!
The AA Side: "Darko Remix"... is quite a big and chunky mix by Darko's standards, somewhat in a Bedrockesque style relentless and groovy. The groove is full of tiny loops and effects which carry the track as layers of sound are carefully sprinkled throughout the mix creating something ideal for those big room moments. The parts are sparingly used here and there with some of the loops from the original playing important rolls in giving the mix its identity, meanwhile some of the trademark production techniques Darko always uses are in attendance, however presented in a slightly different way to usual.
The Darko remix gives a quality edge to what is already an outstanding track.
