The brand new track from Hybrid is causing a stir from this side of the Atlantic to the other, produced by the guys who pushed out the superb 'Theme From Wide Angle", "Finished Symphony" and too many good remixes to name.
The new release from Hybrid from Distinctive Breaks is one which will be of some surprise to Hybrid fans, and you'll either love it or hate it. With the boys working on a new album due for early next year, this is a little taster of what to expect.
Tracklist:
A1. Visible Noise B1. Know Your Enemy
Visible Noise
Think you like the symphonic orchestral sounds of Hybrid? well, this may not suit your ears then. A rolling breakbeat laid track with tinges of 303 reverbing in the background is what makes up this track, which also contains a very deep rolling bassline to begin with and brings together elements from trance, progressive and the electro-breaks genre that Hybrid are so proud of.
There are minimal signs of it being Hybrid until you get to the big break which ensues just before 2/3rds the way through the track, and an almost symphonic break ensues, causing damage on the dancefloors before pushing back into its 303 combination with breaks. Max Graham loved this tune, will you??
Know Your Enemy
Personally, the stronger of the two and more "Hybrid-esque", almost instantly recognizable from the beginning intro sequence, which reminds you of something from out of a movie, before a superb breakbeat seqeuence laiden with hi-hats and resembling some material from Hybrid's Remix album which appeared not too far into the distant past ago.
As the breaks continue to tumble on, the ever appealing Hybrid orchestral movements are audible breaking through the crisp bassline. The ever prevalent break ensues at just about the same spot in the track as it was on Visible Noise, and it is an eerie subliminal chiming which may make you think of standing in the mist on a cold day staring out into an open space.
But before you get too far into your dream the breaks roll out again and once again you're at your feet dancing to the beats....
Do I love it or hate it? I love it... all the Hybrid elements are there, but yet they have moved into a slightly different style than they are previously accustomed to. 9/10, with particular emphasis on Know Your Enemy
