Here it is: the supposed 'next big thing' in software, but is Melodyne really the awesome beast we're expecting..? at $700 it would need to be...
This year those who took time to stray from the well trodden path were able to unearth some weird and wonderfull stuff, such as bob moog and his moogerfoogers and, more pertinently, Peter Neubacker from Celemony Software. Picture a hall the size of Wembly Stadium, dominated by corporate banners and, in the corner, a dead ringer for the trippy professor from The Fast Show demonstrating a seemingly unassuming piece of software on a G3 laptop. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Melodyne. On Closer inspection it became apparent that melodyne was far from unassuming, and among the computer contingent, it caused quite a stir. it had top bods from steinberg, emagic and native shaking their heads in amazment.
So whats all the fuss about? This software can import vocals (Or any monophonic part) and then afford you to manipulate it in much the same way as midi data. Like Auto Tune on steroids.
This is not a review so if you want more info just, read more http://www.celemony.com
