Here we have it, the long awaited follow up to 'slaves', from the hugely talented Manticore crew. Baroque have continually pressed top quality tracks, from a variety of artists. This one sees the Barqoue maestro on remix duty also.Great release yet again!
As usual this one is full of surprises, the ORIGINAL is a full on dance floor destroying mix that will capture any crowd, the drop is a clever & Skillfully put together montage of catchy radio clips & retro records that really grabs you.
On the flip Keith Mcdonnell provides his Innate remix, and in contrast to the original, takes things on a housier tip with funky beats and summer strings all working alongside effected snippets of the original... This mix is for the space terrace lovers.
ORIGINAL: The original starts out with a rough edged bassline, which drags through some little high pitched electronic samples. It draws into action with a mini sweep, this gets the bassline rolling. It cuts to a reverbed break, but is unrelenting as it sets off again at full pace. It rushes through the phrases with little variation, until it loses some of its high hats and concentrates on a twisted effect to contrast the driving bass. The break is superb.. it cuts to radio samples, r'n'b sounds everything-then tweaks the high pitched electronic effect to throw you back into the track once more. The track never loses momentum throughout. The track draws to a close losing the electro effect-but maintaining the hard edged bassline it portrays throughout.
INNATE REMIX: Keith contrast the bassline, having a higher pitched, funkier bassline. The opening sounds are hollow but work well together with a harsh stabbing effect. The track edges on tribal house with plenty of sounds merged. A cool synth whisps above the bassline, whilst a grunbling bassline accompanies the funkier bass. It drops down gradually to the break, with some very strange but excellent sounds. The break doesnt come fully, it drops and drops but rises to entice the sounds back. A lighter melody is sampled under the track-gaining volume until it reaches the head of the main breakdown. It pushes the house sound through to its finale.
