Body-Shock (L-Vee & DJ Ghost), known for their slammer "Ghost In The Church" earlier this year, is back this autumn with a two-track piece of plastic titled Rain In The City.
A01 : Rain In The City [Original Mix]
The track starts off with a steady, winding dj-friendly intro, that builds into a rather catchy bass-line. In some ways, it kinda reminds me of Airwave. It takes as long as four minutes before the first break steps in and gives us a breather before the main theme emerges. In my opinion, these nearly three minutes of 'synthetic waves' can become a bit tedious, and the break in total is one of the longest I've heard in a while! It started at about 4 minutes, and it's not until about 8 minutes that the beat finally kicks back in. As stated, a bit long perhaps, but it can be quite effective as a breather in a longer liveset. When the beat kicks back in we're pretty much back to where we were right before the break; with a strong progressive drive.
B01 : Plastic
More progressive bonzai madness in this one. It has the same Airwave-ish beat , and a similarily steady progressive melody as the A-side , but with a shorter break and a really nice 'spooky' feel to it with what might be called the lead instrument (if there is any). In some ways I prefer this one to the A-side , but it's a close call.
Overall, a pretty good release from Bonzai , with a nice progressive edge to it. Okay I know some of you might say that this isn't real progressive trance, but by the 'modern' definition of it I think we can safely call it so :)
But to wrap things up; if you like the Airwave style, you will enjoy this aswell, most likely!
