Revolution 9 comes out of nowhere and delivers this excellent trance/hard trance track on Duty Free Promo vinyl...
I can't say I've heard much about Revolution 9 - because I haven't. I've seen the name appear on a few events so was very curious about this brand new title. They say curiosity killed the cat, but it didn't do any harm here because this is one gem of a track.
Available on Duty Free Promo now, on general release 21/10/2002, with tracks:
A1: The Dreamer (Original Mix) B1: The Dreamer (Prime Mover Mix)
A1: The Dreamer (Original Mix) Nothing thrilling at the start - beats, hi-hats and a little ambient backing. Don't let this put you off, because then a nice bassline comes in backed up by a few vocals and all of a sudden you're presented with an almost eerie feeling section that keeps you listening. A short break later and after the addition of some dreamy synths which sound similar to Faithless' Insomnia, things pick up and you think you're into the centre piece of the tune.
No no no.
Another short break and a totally new melody kicks in - a more piercing synth, niceness all round. Afterwards, it returns to the Insomnia-esque melody and then winds down to finish off a nice fresh piece of enjoyable trance. I look forward to hearing this one out.
B1: The Dreamer (Prime Mover Mix) This is similar to the Original Mix but is my favourite of the two mixes. It has a more energetic feel to it, with a harder beat and a rougher bassline. This one is a mover from start to finish with more things to listen to - more prominent vocals, dound effects ond those lovely high pitched strings in the background.
Conclusion Two really good tracks. A nice trancer and a quality hard trancer, for those harder occasions. Put this one on your lists, its something to look forward to!
