One of the several classics revived by Hooj offshoot Lost Language, this is one of the big tracks from 97-98, Cafe del Mar, this time seeing the rounds in 2002 filling some big dance floors yet again.
The name Cafe del Mar is likely to be one which almost all who listen to trance will know as it was one of the biggest club hits in the late 90s to have come and has probably existed on more compilations than most other tracks to this date.
This time, we have remixes from dutchman Marco V, Michael Woods and from producer 3 'n 1.
Marco V, the dutchman who's name has appeared quite a bit this year across Europe for his Con Fusion LP and numerous remixes as well as big gigs has been big big big for much of the past few years.
When Hooj enlisted his remix work, none would have expected the outcome to be like this. With a track which lies on the balearic trance line, Marco V's remix duties, although adding a whole new face to the track, would not remind you of his usual work.
A rather downtempo but chunky affair is where the bassline is, and some wouldn't have imagined that the track was actually Cafe del Mar, until the break comes through and comes with a touch of pads, and a bit of a sequence change in pattern there, putting the track into deeper club territory.
For those of you who think that the original remix is a bit too boring and dull for you, you will like this spiced up version which puts this track into 2002 style, definitely great stuff from Marco V.
We all know Michael Woods, the producer responsible for beautiful remixes of Accadia's "Into the Dawn", Salt Tank's "Eugina" and Saint's & Sinners' "Peace" amongst others is one of Lost Language's biggest assets, with his superb production and remix work under his Accadia guise and others.
He brings on a very chilled production on this release and if it was the beginning of summer now, Ibiza would be hearing a lot of this remix which brings up a dreamy style of play and is great for the sunday morning's or the sunny days in the park... perhaps?
Three n One aka Sharam Jey, a producer often overlooked has been out and about for much of the past few years and this remix is not new. It came out on the Hooj pressing in 1997 as its 'original' mix and is definitely one of the strongest mixes around, BUT the thing is that remix is a bit of a spice up version of the original remix which they put out in '97 and is truly excellent.
More fuller strings and hypnotic bass comes through on this production and is a huge change from his original production. I am sure many of you still consider the original 3n'1 Mix as the best out there, but if you haven't heard this update, you are definitely missing out.
Its great to see Lost Language putting out the classics and adding a bit of spice to them, and Solar Stone's Seven Cities is no exception as well, along with a few upcoming productions. What some may not know is that the original Energy 52 track was released in 1993
Other remixes which will come along with the final package will include one from the superb John '00' Fleming, so will this be the end of the Energy 52 saga? We shall see...
