Flystyler, a well know clubber from the UK Tranceaddicts, went to Godskitchen last night for Ferry Corsten and Guy Ornadel at the popular Code club in Birmingham, England...
Right, just a little review
Got there way to early, lol, at 9:14pm, waited for 15 mins 2nd in the Queue, lol
Got in and heard Aj Gibson playing to about 10 people for an hour or so, playing some boring funky house stuff, then going onto more of a trancey set before handing over to Ferry Corsten at 12.
Ferry played a harder than expected set, less of the uplifting trance and more of the `bosh bosh bosh` harder trance, although still enough hands up in the air moments to please any ferry fan. So an interesting set from him...
Maybe not as well structured as i would have helped, going from hardish trance to more epic/uplifting trance back to the hard trance. But the crowd loved it, and so it seemed did Ferry.
Ferry obviously dropped Punk, like in all his sets he expected a huge sing along from the crowd, but when he turned the music down to hear the crowd singing their hearts out, he realised not as many as hoped were singing along. Woops. Maybe thats a sign that he should stop playing it now.
Then at 2am Guy Ornadel stepped in to show us wot he could do. He set was a mash up of hard trance and techno. Not exactly wot i expected after hearing him at Slinky a while back, but the set kept the smallish crowd on its feet.
The actual club: Godskitchen @ Code is always a treat. Amazing sound system, and a light display second to none. The lazers kept me amused for wot seemed like hours. And they also have some amazing visual displays with spinning godskitchen signs and wot not.
So a good night had by all.
Rating at 8/10
Note From Ian - Big thanks to Fly for the report of his night out, if you would like to contact him sometime, he's usually on #ukta on irc.webchat.org and occasionally in the #ivibes channel when he's not working :)
