On the 9th of november, the moment was finally there: Capital! I was really looking forward to this party. The Statenhal is a good location for a big event like this, and the line-up looked very promising:
Main
Sander Kleinenberg: 22.00 - 01.00 Paul v. Dyk: 01.00 - 03.00 Tiësto: 03.00 - 05.00 Michel de Heij: 05.00 - 07.00
Smirnoff Experience Room
Benny Rodriguez vs. Laidback Luke: 22.00 - 01.00 Michel de Heij: 01.00 - 02.30 Ken Ishii: 02.30 - 04.00 Stef: 04.00 - 05.00
I arrived at 21.55, so I had plenty of time to check out the decorations. I must say that the crew at Capital did a really good job on this. There were three big white screens floating on the ceiling, with alot of colorful discolights attached to it.

There were multiple big screen video walls on every wall too, showing nice animations, and the current DJ's name.
The first DJ in the main hall was Kleinenberg. He started off really housey, and moved on to progressive during his set. He even threw in some excellent breakbeat tunes in the end, very nice. But then, when Paul van Dyk was supposed to take over, DJ Stef appeared at the decks. I figured van Dyk was late, so I kept on partying without any worries. Then after about an hour, the MC tells us Paul van Dyk wouldn't spin, because he was in the hospital, due to fever.
After hearing this, my mood started to turn bad. Fortunately, Tiesto started his set an hour early, and what a set it was... Though there wasn't really a buildup in the set, the tune selection was excellent.
The Capital crew did a great job on the lighting. There were three lasers behind the DJ Booth, 2 green ones and one red laser. Also, there were tons of spots spread throughout the hall.
Then I decided to take a look in the Smirnoff room, where Ken Iishi was spinning. Lovely techno swept up the crowd, and they went wild. I had never heard this man live before, but I am glad I have now. :)
After Ken's set, DJ Stef was providing me with some good techhouse and progressive tunes. Perfect to cool down abit from Iishi's hard set.
The party ended at 06.30. There were several busses waiting outside, to take all te partypeople to the trainstation. This was perfectly arranged by the Capital crew.
Pro's: - good decoration & lights - good temperature, not too cold, not too hot. - transport after the party was very well arranged - lot of security
Con's: - cancellation of Paul van Dyk (not Capital's fault) - the treble (high tones) on the sound was abit too loud, it hurt my ears a couple of times. - toilets were really dirty - waiting time at the entrance was really long (alot of people i know had to wait more than an hour to get in.)
Well, that's about it. I had a great night, thanks Capital!
