Finally, the long awaited release of Solstice is here, with a gem on the flip side too! Find out if I can find the words to describe this masterpiece here ...
Finally, It's here! One of the most anticipated releases for fans of ferry or uplifting trance alike, Solstice has made it into our collections, with a remake of the classic "out of the blue" on the B-Side! Let's see if I can put into words how the songs make me feel...
A1 - Solstice
The first thing you notice with Solstice is that it has a very catchy beat & bassline, cleverly made to give an impression of bouncing or rolling to me. It's really catchy and happy, and time seems to stand still as you listen to the clever sounds in it.
After a nice breakdown comes the main melody, and what a melody it is! It's uplifting, epic, catchy, emotional, amazing, all in one, real "hands in the air" material. There is a feeling of progression through the song as more & more sounds are added to the tune, and then the beat comes back, and it's time to take off.
Overall this song is more than 8 minutes of pure enjoyment, and when it's finished, you want to play it again and again until the vinyl is worn out! 10/10 - The best song of the year :-)
B1 - Out of The Blue 2002
This is not a remix of one of the classics, but a remake, sounding a bit more up to date if it ever needed it. There is more feeling to the beat & bass this time, and the song overall is very well made, but like many you will probably stick with the original, simply for sentimental values if nothing else.
A Very nice tune indeed, but sometimes tunes can't get any better, and as good as this edit is, I don't think it's better than the original, nothing can be in my honest opinion :-) 7/10
Overall this is a must buy, simply to own Solstice on 12", I'd suggest buying on for all your family too, if this cannot turn them into tranceaddicts, then nothing ever will!
