Part 1 of a series of brief chats with the artists to see how they've fared in 2002, and what they were up to on the night of New Years Eve. We start with Chris Fortier, Les Hemstock, Shane 54, Thomas Trouble, Misja Helsloot and DJ Session One.
Breaking into 2003, we all had our memorable moments, parties, and hopes. What were those of the artists? Here are a few to start it off, many more to follow shortly!
NYE 2002
Chris Fortier, part of the Fade guise and producer behind some chunky progressive beats and many crowds have jammed to his DJing talents across the globe in 2002.
On how his New Years Eve Went: "New Years 2003 was amazing for me. I played at centro-fly in my home town of New York City. The gig was sold out. It was myself and Jimmy van M playing all night. We tagged the whole night and the crowd were totally up for it and we didnt finish until 9:30am. This is a great way to finish a very busy year for myself and begin the next. all of our close friends were there partying all night with us. brilliant!"
Thomas Trouble panics on New Years Eve.. in style "New Years in the studio panicking to get a track finished for Ministry, and a condom on my keyboard hoping the phone rings."
Misja Helsloot having it large at Club XL: The new Club XL opened (www.xtralarge.nl) it's doors and they support me a lot as a resident there so they let me close 2002 and open 2003 by playing on NYE from midnight to 1am!
Half of Hemstock & Jennings, Les has some mixed thoughts "My New Years celebration was a mixed bag.. I played an early set at Exiliration in Sheffield then went over to Gatecrasher to see the New Year in with friends, Matt Hardwick and Scott Bond.. to eventually finnish off in style playing the last set at Frisky, Northampton after Matt Hardwick..my debut set there and a blast!"
Reflections of 2002:
Thomas Trouble gives birth best memory of 2002: becoming a father to my new labrador pup.
Les Hemstock going mental: "..there are many memories of 2002 as you can imagine, though the one that stands out is the live mix i did from Radio One's soundstage in Ibiza on Fergies show...millions of listeners and thousands on the beach going mental
Misja Helsloot: "2002 was the year of my debut single on my own comapny Gesture Music, that sais a lot I guess. Beside that I played on mayor summer festivals in Holland. "
Misja on his Impulz anthem "For the Impulz Indoor Festivals I did the Anthem, and on the event during my set, my first video clip was made!"
Shane 54: "My best memory of 2002 was the WMC in Miami, and my Madrid gig last week, where I played B2B with Abel Ramos, one of my favourite DJs (since then)."
Chris reflects on 2002: "best memory of 2002 was my bedrock album being released...."
i:Vibes You can almost picture Chris gazing at the sky when he says that
hopes and upcomings in 2003:
Misja Helsloot's resolution: for 2003 To make the radioshow on DanceNet FM (Trancesistor Radio) a hit!
Dirk Blutonium Boy was still recovering from his New Years bash but we got his thoughts for hopes
"My wish is, that the young growing crowd on this earth are changing their behaviour into a better one, and that their parents take more care about that !!!???? To much crime and shit on this planet, grrrrrrr! I wish everybody all the best, and thanx to all people who likes music and also our stuff!"
Back to bed for you Dirk
Shane 54: "A lot of exciting things have happened to me in the past few months, including the release of my first book, and a handful of remixes I made for artists I highly respect. I'll have at least 4 remixes/releases this winter, and more to follow in spring!"
Chris Fortier "for 2003; concentrating on studio productions and playing as many new places as possible around the world."
Final words from Les Hemstock I hope this year sees lots of great memories to be had for us all!
We will be bringing you more to come very soon!
