Time to take a look at something that goes beyond words. The madness that is Sundissential. Welcome to the People's Republic of Sundissential!!
Having only been to Sundissential for the first time just over 2 weeks ago, I was skeptical about what it would be like, what with it being based around the hardest of Trance and the core of Hard House.
I'm glad to say I was most pleasantly suprised - suprised enough to warrant me desperately trying to get a ticket for the NYE party before they sold out.
£30 for a shiny ticket allowed for a lineup of the following big names:
Eddie Halliwell Nick Rafferty Paul Kershaw Strange Dave & Dangle Rob Tissera Charlotte Birch Ian M Andy Farley Adam Sheridan
As you can see, a lineup not for the faint of heart!
We unfortunately missed Eddie Halliwell as he played first and we got there rather late. Paul Kershaw played quite trancey, which I found very nice indeed, one of his best moments was mixing two of the Gatex remixes together - an excellent double dose of one of the best tracks around! The rest of the lineup played harder and harder house to the point where you had to be a REAL fan of it to get the best from it. No uplifting stuff here, just pure driving energy. But it was good pure driving energy all the same!
I have to make a special point while mentioning the venue. The Birmingham Academy. Its simply IMMENSE. 2,500 people inside it and theres still plenty of room. It has to be seen to be believed - the DJs stand on the main stage of what seems to be a sort of concert hall, with a massive stretch of dancefloor infront of it and a balcony around the back and sides. Several bars. Big versions of things like Twister and Jenga. Various stalls selling all kinds of things that glow. Its breathtaking.
And the people. Given a lot of them are totally crazy, but the atmosphere everyone gives out is completly unique.
Overall a top, top night out and one hell of a New Years bash! If you haven't been already, then you should really give it a go.
Watts.
A hall full of crazy 'ssentiallers!
A few of my friends!
And a few more!
And finally one of the founders, Madders, doing his usuall stuff!
