Sonorous is back, and how!! Famous from Glass Garden, and their remix from Sun Decade, and others...
Background Rough Mullar, the producer of ‘Second Sun’, ‘Glass Garden’, and remixer of Mirco de Govia’s Epic Monolith return to us with his newest: ‘Protonic’. The vinyl also includes Ronki Speed’s remix. Ronki Speed’s previous project Sun Decade – I’m Alone has been one of my personal favorites of 2002 and all time. Ronki Speed has also remixed Glass Garden. Both these works have been support by Paul van Dyk. Ronki Speed’s remix of Protonic has already been featured in Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance radioshow. The vinyl will be released this month on the Euphonic label.
Original Mix Have any friends who do not know what trance is? Play this for them. Have them close their eyes and focus on the enchantingly simple yet distinct melody. The short and rapid modulation of high notes reminded me of Epsilon 9’s Lifeformation. At breakdown a beautiful female voice adds to the dreamy ambiance. Not a track I can see on the dance floor but more a track that swallows the listener and takes them on a seven-minute journey.
8/10
Ronki Speed Mix A signature of Ronki Speed’s musical style, this track radiates with uplifting energy. Whereas the original mix was dreamier, this remix reveals itself to be a euphoric trancer. At first impression Ronki Speed’s remix of Protonic reminded me of Sun Decade – I’m Alone (Mirco de Govia Dub) -- the dominant high and low range frequencies shadows the mid-range frequencies. I was surprised to hear Ronki Speed left the vocals unaltered. I would hoping he would have applied some effect or edit on the vocals to take this already great track to extraordinary.
9/10
Conclusion I enjoyed Protonic more than I did Second Sun but Glass Garden is still king. Overall I liked the Ronki Speed Mix more than the Original Mix in a club environment. However, as a DJ, it would be hard to drop Ronki Speed’s Mix until you really have had the crowd going. It’s definitely not a track you want to start early in your set. But when the time is right, the crowd will surely go ballistic over this track.
credits go to Scott, thanks a lot
