Energetic UK Hard Dance brought to us once again by Tidy Two, the first offering on this label from Tomcat, how will it fare ? Find out here!
Once again, Tidy Two are bringing us some really energetic Hard Dance, this time in the form of a double header from 'Tomcat' for whom this is the first release on the label under this guise, but may be known to you as OD404. Presenting State of Motion and I'm Still Free!
A1 - State of Motion
We begin with a very energetic kick and hi-hat, with some little tricks involved, to spice things up, and a vocal sample of 'somebody in the house say yeah' which echoes on a little bit until the bass starts to come to us, and a soft string-like sound in the background too, which changes when the melody starts.
The melody itself is very catchy, stabbing noises, which progress into a really well thought out melody which has been infecting my head since I first heard this tune on the Resonate 2 album. This obviously isn't pitched upto the same lengths as the Resonate Mix cd, so you may find yourselves reaching for that pitch control on your decks, and I'd suggest it, as I think it takes off even more so when done. I highly rate this first offering though, and I think it will be a hard job to follow if the B side is to become better. Somehow, I can't really put my finger on it, but whilst it doesn't change too much, it keeps me interested, touching a healthy 9/10 on my ratings, Highly recommended for fans of the Tidy Two label like myself.
B1 I'm Still Free
Starting off with a similar kick as the first side, but with almost an electric buzz sounding bass, not the Matt Darey song, just the feeling the sound gives me, crackling. Once again the kick is very powerful, and this tune seems to look like it will fit into the UK Hard Dance genre, not trancey enough to be Hard Trance like S.H.O.K.K but definitely not Hard House either, taking elements from both styles to become its own.
Again this tune features a catchy melody, quite similar to the first one, but obviously with these tunes made at about the same time, this is always likely to happen, and maybe because I've just heard the first one right before too that I can hear it. However this is probably not as catchy altogether as the A side, the melody and everything is once again busy, a lot of things going on, but this doesn't quite jump out to me as the storming tune that State of Motion Is.
Not too bad, but 6/10.... there are better tunes out there, but it's still worthy of being in a set.
