We put together the remaining 2 remixes on the finished remix slate from Solar Stone, the one which many have heard before, and the remix which most of you have not...
We recently did a review of Greg Murray and Midway's remix of Solar Stone's massive "Solarcoaster" here:
Greg Murray & Midway Mix of Solarcoaster Review
Now, I have the Original Mix which we have all heard from the original release, and a brand new Steve Murano Remix, released on Lost Language Recordings.
01. Original Mix 02. Steve Murano Mix
The Original Mix
Should not come as much of a surprise to many of you as it was released on the original release back in Autumn/Winter 2002, with "Greenlight" on the b-side. Nonetheless, to refresh our memories, the original mix, packed to the bring, emanating nothing but Ibiza Solar Stone style, with that touch of beautiful background vocals and sublime guitars which would turn any gloomy day brighter.
This has been picked up by DJs such as Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren and all the other major jocks, a few of them since this track was originally produced back in the late 90s, and if you have not heard it yet, you've been missing out! We'll give this one a 9/10
Steve Murano Mix
Perhaps something different from what we've heard so far or the sound which we have been accustomed to from Solar Stone, as Steve Murano puts in a remix which I can only tech-trance and will appeal to some and not to some. A very electronic 80s sound which you might expect from someone like an early Kevin Saunderson or Sven Vath to put forward in a mix which is addictive but can become rather annoying to listen to after a while with its beeps and buzzes.
Not really my thing and not really something I would have expected from Lost Language to put forth, but I will admit it is something different for the listeners and if you're not into the dreamy, balearic sound, then this might be the remix for you. A 5/10 from myself.
Lost Language
Solar Stone
For these two remixes, an overall 7/10 pulled up by the Original.
