There can be few clubbers around the globe that have never found themselves dancing to the classic "Questions Must Be Asked". Now two years after that record first caused a stir in clubland David Forbes unleashes the follow-up, the aptly titled "Answers".
Kicking off in a similar way to "Questions" the original mix builds with tough percussion and an analogue bassline before a simple but highly effective melody is added to the mix. Like "Questions" the breakdown really hits the spot with some swirling sound effects before a catchy hook-line enters proceedings taking the tune to another level.
On the B-Side we find the Scanners mix which if anything is even better than the original. It builds in a similar vein to the original but with more melodic touches and effects and with a greater emphasis on the main hookline. The breakdown is a more gentle affair on this mix with calm, soothing strings and a slightly more subdued hookline. This all works to give the tune more power when the percussion kicks back in and all elements are brought together in the mix.
All in all a great follow-up to an absolute classic and well worth the lengthy wait. Whilst both mixes are similar in construction, the subtle differences make for two excellent and useable club tunes. Already being played by some of the scene's major players including Armin and PVD, Scotland's Red Monkey Records seem to have a sure-fire winner on their hands here.
