Apparently hailing from Egypt, Aly & Fila look set to score another resounding success for Germany's Euphonic label with their new release "Eye Of Horus".
A - The Ronski Speed mix starts in typical fashion with their usual floor-moving percussion before swiftly introducing a beautifully catchy keyboard melody as the track's main hookline. Sounding not dissimilar to earlier Chicane tracks but with an altogether tougher and more dancefloor friendly feel, the sounds conjure up images of sun-soaked beaches, reminding us that summer and in particular the Ibiza season are only a few short months away.
The breakdown sees the introduction of a second melody line combined with numerous effects making you feel just about as sun-drenched and euphoric as it's possible to feel in March.
The track continues to pump along pausing only for a short mid-section where the melody is dropped out before being re-introduced and building up to a second breakdown similar to the first.
B - The B-Side is where the original mix finds it's home. This mix is very similar to the Ronski Speed mix but with a slightly less clubby feel and is probably the better of the two for home listening where the many levels of the production will be more apparent.
Readers expecting harder trance from this German label will be disapointed as both mixes have a lot more in common with the more melodic and progressive sound of Dutch or Belgian trance than with the harder sound usually expected of German producers.
Already receiving major support from some of the scene's top DJs including Armin and Matt Hardwick it seems likely that it will be heard for some time to come with summer creeping ever closer. Anyone who has enjoyed this labels previous releases, most notably Sun Decade's "I'm Alone" and the Mirco De Govia tracks, will not be disapointed. Indeed for any fans of well produced, melodic, uplifting trance this is an absolute "must buy".
