-With dozens of productions under his belt, and about the same number of quality remixes as well, Lange has earned a reputation as a key player in the trance industry, he tells us a little bit about himself...

Lange:"I’m originally from Shrewsbury (in the UK) where I lived for around 20 Years! But I’ve now migrated south – it’s slightly warmer down here! It’s more convenient being nearer London."

I get inspired from different styles of music, but mainly the trance scene (as you’d expect!). In recent years, producers like Ferry Corsten, M.I.K.E, Vincent de Moor, Tiesto, Bervoets & De Goej (a.k.a. Rank 1), Matt Darey, Armin van Buuren etc…. have been very influential to me.

-You have not done much DJing until the past year or so; how do you find it compared to producing and remixing? Is there plans for any residencies in the near future?

Lange:"It’s Great! – A good opportunity to meet the clubbers and get out onto the ‘front-line’ to see the reactions you get from the records. It’s obviously a lot different to being alone in a studio, which is how I spend most of my time! My true passion will always be producing, but DJing is a good sideline and I get the opportunity to travel all over the World."

Yes, I will be a Resident at Passion (in Coalville, UK) from 2002 on. (My first appearance there is on the 8th of December 2001).

Do you have a favorite song of all time? or how about a current favourite..

Lange:"I always get asked for my favourite song of all time, but I can’t answer that! I can’t pick one – I have too many favourites! I’m really into tracks by Push/M.I.K.E (what Melodies!), Vincent de Moor and Tiesto and a lot of Bonzai Records releases. Other tracks that are doing it for me include the new ‘4 Strings’ track ‘Into The Night’, Rank one’s ‘Deep Dub’ of ‘Such is Life’, Insigma’s ‘Open Our Eyes’ and some of the more progressive tracks such as Private Taste’s ‘First’ & DJ Cyber’s ‘Marco Antonio’."

-There is an evergoing controversy over mp3s and music up for download on the net. What are your views on MP3s and the rapidly expanding MP3 scene at the moment?

Lange:"MP3’s and the Internet in general have been great for getting new music from unknown acts out there. But something does need to be done to stop the illegal distribution of other people’s music. Why should it be free when someone has worked hard to make the music?"

-You recently worked on a production with Dumonde. How was that like? and any plans to work on productions with other producers?

Lange:"It worked well! I got in contact with Dumonde when they remixed my last solo single ‘Follow Me’. Since then we have been good friends. I went over to their Studio in Germany and we worked out an idea for a track. I brought the idea back with me & we both did our own mixes. The tracks called ‘Memory’ by Dumonde Vs Lange and the 12” Vinyl has just been released in Germany."

-What can we look out for in the near future from you? A possible solo album? or a compilation mix?

Lange:"There’s my new single called ‘Drifting Away’ which is just getting promo’d now. It will be out on V.C. Recordings next month (December). A UK release of the ‘Dumonde Vs Lange’ track will probably be around March/April time.
Other projects I’m involved with include the next SuReal record, which we are just starting to write now, ready for a Spring/Summer release."
