CD1 is very much the deeper of the two, with Very Acid Techno like songs on it, progressing from a great opening track , Electro Ghetto into TG One and then Marco V’s popular ‘My Acid Pacemaker’ without any notice of transitions, that’s how tightly mixed this is! Although this is my first time going through Anne’s unique stylings, It will not be my last, as this is very good, it’s not going to turn the progressive minded heads, but it will bring great pleasure to fans of Harder edged music, as it has something for everyone on it.
Following on now, We have Paul Glazby’s ‘Techsture’ which has a really hypnotic sounding vocal, keeping you interested all the way through, into another perfect transition, which seems to be the order of the day, into a tune known as ‘one inch deeper’ which has awesome sounding bass & percussions, that I had to turn it up really loud, just to enjoy it that much more! It’s hard to believe, but already I’m on the 5th tune, and it’s true to say that I haven’t noticed a single bad mix, which obviously means props to Anne for this.
Pounding on, I’m soon met by a very familiar vocal about Deeper Love, which is taken from a tune I know, but can’t think of at the moment. It’s nice to hear the odd vocal over this kind of sound, it’s definitely not commercial sounding, and makes great use of it in this instance, something that is welcome for me. Next up is a bit different, as there is more of a breakdown, yet still a techno sounding tune, with hypnotic & evil sounding vocal and basslines swirling around your head and sending you insane. This theme continues in the next tune, the spoken vocal sequenced in such a way that it’s always there in your mind, and really hammering home the point, I can only imagine how scary it would sound on a huge sound system. Kick Back also incorporates a cool trancey riff, and is really fun to listen to, always doing different things behind the main melody and a nice chord added to it to make it sound really good indeed.
Anne’s latest solo release comes next, and is aptly known as ‘Hellraiser’ something which I’m definitely imagine her as if she plays this kind of style all the time! It’s a bit noticeable following on from this that the style is moving more towards Hard House, although the breakdown in this tune is absolutely amazing, I can’t really describe it, maybe you’ll have to buy the CD!! This recent change is style is continued next, with a funky but hard tune known as ‘Bang’ and from here on in, I think this is the course of action.
This is indeed the case as we go through harder sounding tunes which pass relatively unnoticed, in the way that they are mixed superbly, and I look at the cd player, to realise I’ve missed a couple of songs, just sat here listening and not realised it’s changed! The cd carries on on a very hard house like sound until the penultimate track, Floorburn, which incorporates a more trancey sound in it, before ending on a funky sounding tune known as Hallucination, and I can definitely see how well it’s titled, it moves through a fast melody with some really cool changes in the notes, to leave you gagging for air, and hoping the second CD is going to be as good!
Mixing wise, this cd is perfect, tune wise it is also very good, I’d give it 8.5/10
Looking at the listings for CD2 I expect it to be equally good, with a slightly more melodic sound in places, here goes!
Staring off, we have DJ Tiesto’s familiar remix of Umek – Gatex, which begins with a nice piano sound, and brings in bigger bass sounds, and a funky melody later on, which is a nice start for this ride. This cd seems to pass very quickly again, and is once again props to Annes awesome stylings, which I am definitely going to get more into from now on. You find an awful lot more melodies in this cd, and it is probably easier listening than the previous one, which you need an ear for. Highlight of this Include ‘Tomcat – I’m Still Free’ which swirls through your mind and body, with one of the catchiest melodies I’ve heard this year in this style of UK Hard Trance, and the song following in from it, Song 14 from Ingo, which also has awesome sounding melodies, and is possibly my favourite song over the cds!
After that, we get deeper for a couple of songs, before Anne’s Other new single, Four leaf Clover comes in, with driving melodies, and a nice percussion/breakdown, highly recommended! Suddenly time passes again with amazing timing on the transitions into Ingo – 48hrs which is absolutely amazing, the funkiest sounding melody in a really cool sound, which captures you and throws you around the room! Amazing stuff again
This cd rates slightly higher and may be more of interest to Hard Dance fans, 9/10
