Next up on Lost Language is this uplifting vocal trancer from they boys who brought you Ascension a few months back and the still legendary Sunrise. The 1st disc has been distributed and features the Original Mix and the massive Super8 Remix.
Lost Language really is the label of the moment, churning out release after release of quality trance. This instalment is no exception ‘Of Our Times’ is destined to be the beginning of a bright year for the Goldenscan boys who have already featured closely with i:vibes in recent months.
The Original Mix is pumping yet funky in the bassline, it has the ability to be played at various different points in a set and works to great effect. It features the exceptional vocals of Nicki Evans, which the track uses brilliantly.
The percussion is subtle but effective reminiscent of Above & Beyond’s work, it slowly builds up until the breakdown, the vocal carries the groove through the breakdown and the main riff rises. The kick comes back and there’s something mellow about the track but the tuneful melody would capture the ear of any dancefloor. This is definitely the mix for trance DJs looking to expand their style and has picked up plays from GodsKitchen resident Jon O’Bir in recent months.
The A side contains an absolute trance monster of a remix by Super8. Ben Lost and Tom from Goldenscan himself have caned this one.
This epic trance monster really puts the elements of the Original to work. The vocal starts with no bassline behind it and sounds fantastic in the mix. The bass is typical Super8, energetic and full.
The intro riff is very ‘Ferry Corsten’ sounding, typical of his works from 99/2000, the bass is driving, and I could see this tearing up the dance floor.
The vocals come back at the beginning of the breakdown and the main riff comes in, after the vocal the track explodes into uplifting trance heaven for that hands in the air moment. The beat comes back and track goes wild, its such a dancey track, the melody is happy and could set all the faces of a club to smile.
Overall a superb forthcoming release from Lost Language, we will be expecting much different things from Disc 2, with interesting remixes from Katana and Burufunk coming soon.
Full release will be in May 2003.
