Better known as one third of the Anjunabeats production team behind the Above & Beyond, Freestate, Oceanlab and Dirt Devils guises, Paavo Siljamaki goes it alone for the first time in his P.O.S. guise. To find out if his first solo outing stands up to the standards set by the team read on...
A-Side - Remember (Summer Sun). The tune kicks off in typical Anjunabeats style with a tough kick drum and bubbling bassline. It builds exactly as you'd expect from a producer of Paavo's pedigree with the introduction of numerous effects and a typically sublime hookline. Progressing towards the breakdown more and more layers are added to the mix, the introduction of a piano being the most prominent. A cooing-type vocal takes us into the breakdown where the piano melody really comes into it's own before a nice snare roll re-introduces the beat. The piano refrain continues along with the effects first introduced during the build-up until gradually subsiding during the outro.
B-Side - Amnesiac. Over on the flip we find another slightly deeper interpretation of the familiar Anjunabeats sound. The track building with the usual solid percussion and bass before breaking down into a progressive style riff which plays for the majority of the tune before being replaced with some typically lush strings and the another sublime riff towards the end.
Conclusion:
Whilst representing a slightly deeper and less obvious take on their usual sound both tracks are infused with exactly the kind of floor-moving energy which we've come to expect from the team's productions. It therefore comes as no surprise that support has already been received from the scene's leading DJs including Armin and Paul Van Dyk. All in all another resounding success for Anjunabeats and if you're a fan of this label's previous releases be sure to check this one out
