When its nighttime, what is our natural way? What does our instinct tell us to find? It tells us to be always searching for the light! This tune has some ok riffs in and its got a rolling bassline. Very cool and very original, Read On...

Akira Yamomoto - Always [Radio Edit]
Starting off we get a taste of the main riff, which is really cool and energetic, after this we go straight into the kicks and bass, just like any other radio edit. When the track starts to become more energetic and full it has a short breakdown, with the female vocals 'Always Searching For The Light' with the main riff in the background. Then the inevitable buildup leading into the main riff along with the main kicks and bassline. Pretty driving! Then before its all over the vocals come back over the beat and another break, which leads to the main riff reappearing and building to the main section of the track again. All in all a nice bundle for the radio edit.

Akira Yamomoto - Always [CJ Stone Meets Akira Mix]
For some strange reason, when this mix begins I get flashbacks of the original of Nalin & Kane - Beachball. I think it sounds a little similar, with all its intro's simplicity it is slightly similar to Nalin & Kane, however, the track defintly progresses into something completly different. We got the usual CJ Stone kicks in here which is not a bad thing, but whats unique about this track is the bassline. It just keeps going and its got six hits for every 4 beats. Sounds crazy? Well it is, but its good! This track is much longer and less commercial that the radio edit 'obviously' and its got some nice buildups and some strange but cool effects. After the first breakdown the main riff doesnt come into play even after the buildup, it takes an extra 20 seconds or so for it to fully kick in, but once it does it will have your crowd dancing away!

Akira Yamomoto - Always [Energy Mix]
This mix is defferent from the first two, its harder and doesnt retain the same basslines, which is a good thing as having the same elements in all mixes would be very boring. Instead we got a nice bassline with a medium hard kick and the overall feel of the track is pretty flowing. When the first sub-break comes in it still doesnt sound like any of the other mixes, it substitutes melodies here and there and basically is nice. Now we get as far as the breakdown, which I must mention to you that there is a not so loud crowd chearing in the backgound. Its not over done but adds a little commerciality to the track. The vocals come in there and some warping effects are in place, but after the vocals have ended the main riff as we are familiar with from the first two mixes kicks in, which leads to a nice break which is over all pretty good.

Akira Yamomoto - Always [Damage Control Mix]
This mix is harder than all the other mixes, and doesnt contain much commercialism. Its rather cool to have this mix as it uses some cool elements to flow the track along. The vocals are used in this one but the main riff is never used. The riff bears slight similarities in the note changes but thats about it, nothing else. Overall, harder, less commercial and a nice different mix to have on the vinyl/CD

Akira Yamomoto - Always [Original Mix]
The original mix was a surprise to me, as it has not much similarities to any other mix. In fact its got some rather progressive elements within itself. This is not just a longer version of the radio edit, in fact its a completly different mix altogether. With harder synths and alternative bassline, compared with the other mixes. Even the flow is different. The only thing in this mix is the vocals everything else seems to be different. Overall a nice flowing track which isnt commercial

Conclusion:
Giving this track a rating will be difficult, although it does score some points for originality in its basslines in the [Radio Mix] and [CJ Stone Meets Akira Mix]... It looses some points for being not something totally out of the ordinary, and I dont mean its bad I just mean its not overly original in its ideas. Bassline good, synths not too original. Another bonus is that the mixes are all pretty varied and if you buy this you will get a few different styles of music... © Yamamoto2
